What's everyone,'s opinion on the new camping laws around loch lomond and the trossachs?

No more wild camping, only in designated pay spots.

Me personally I hate the idea, as I often take off an disappear up.n down. Though unlike a minority, I take my rubbish (and other peoples) home and dispose of it properly.

On a couple of occasions I have met up with a couple of people off here on a camp night (major fun) but the liklyhood of it happening now will be slim, seeing as you will have to camp in proper sites

We used to go camping loads up that way before we had the kids.

Never seen anyone causing a disturbance.

I suppose it has been put in for the right reasons, but the some of the camps they have set up are disgraceful, especially for the prices of charging.

Slowly but surely they are getting rid of the "freedom to roam" law to. It's all due to rich foreigners (and I'm including English as foreign in this aspect)

Agree, the neds and bams as usual messing it up for the decent majority.

Used to camp on some of the isles on Loch Lomond (neighbours had a boat) but in recent years the party animals arrived. Now, instead of a quiet few days of peaceful bliss, it's the repetitive thumping bass from a giant boom box.

We have the laws already to deal with dickheads. What we don't have is the money or will to enforce it.

City centre on Friday night is priority for policing.

Imagine being only officer on duty for 20miles, out of phone and radio reception, with 20 d*unk blokes on a lochshore... If there is an issue, it takes half a dozen officers and rangers the full day to sort out, clear up tents, rubbish, cars need towing etc. Then one of the idiots claims his iPod is missing and blames plod for loosing it.

The new laws are not needed, if we had the money to resource enforcement.

Go camping elsewhere. There's loads of beauty spots in our country so go explore it all and leave loch lomond to the day trippers and tourists

It's a shame , as most of you said , it's the decent people that suffer. Ah well just need to find somewhere else to go and wander n camp...

Haha that be a good idea a FAB camp out again , as I said I met one or 2 out , but a camp out with all ( or as many as possible ) you lot ,,,mmm worth thinking about

Been camping all over the country with just my tent in an isolated area to using campsites and there are plenty of places to camp. Quite a few hillwalking websites have pages listing them.

I am totally against the new law and without doubt if I'm not in the mood to I use a campsite, then I wont.

I don't not take hillwalking lightly as it has my respect and safety is paramount. If ever I get pulled up for camping with my tent then my excuse is "I'm testing out this new tent for an hour to see if it reflects the midges away from me"

I have found a load of mess on the east bank. Mostly idiots buying a festival tent and sleeping bag pack from Argos or halfords getting blind d*unk for the weekend and then leaving the mess

Just for giggles they sometimes have a viking funeral for the tent. The summer holidays were the worst.

Sadlybthe idiots will kill it for the rest of us.

When I did the West Highland Way solo, I found a nice bit of woodland with a river and bivvied up there, as long it's small numbers I've 3 and you stop after dark and leave before it's too light you should be fine.

All for it there. Place was always left a tip at the end of the season with tents, rubbish and even the odd caravan just abandoned. Shite it's come to that but someone has to pay for the clean up and try to keep the place looking braw!

I get that, like yourself, some people - the majority probably - will be put out but I guess there are still areas you could go to that are not included in this legislation.

I used to do tourist tours and was always horrible that their first glimpse of the highlands was like a bomb site.

Was away camping with a girl I met from fab had a great time the rangers and police came round mid stroke ..... luckily I managed to get out the tent without the girl told them I just arrived and was sorting the tent out lol not sure how much they believed me but they aloud me to buy a permit via phone ended up taking for half an hour the lass was in the tent the whole time lol I think they are targeting fishers as it runs the trout season dates and on the banks of fishing lochs if it works if no then think again

Was up at Lochearn yesterday...fishing..we got talking about this to some folk that been going there for 20years..And they say folk have already started going elsewhere..Won't belong till the local shops start complaining that business is dropping..

I always take my rubbish away with me no matter where I go..Trout..Sea or fly fishing..I never light fires at Earn..But as we were coming away bot 3 weeks ago we passed somefolkwho had set light to a huge tree... Couldn't believe what i saw...No wonder these bye laws have appeared..

A number of idiots did too much damage.

I've tried to find a place around Loch Earn and it's been covered in rubbish, tents burned and trees hacked to bits.

Although I disagree with it I can see why it was implemented.

yep agree .

last time i had to pack up my kit and the wee man due to the pissed up neds knocking fuck out each and blaring music until the early hours . despite pleas that i had a kid with me and to keep it calm as i wasnt there to spoil anyones enjoyment . place was a shit hole when we left
