"Our local Catholic school came second top for most expulsions and was one of the worst for attacks on teachers. In recent news few kids we're rushed into hospital after a reaction to ecstasy they took during their lunch break and one of the teachers has just been jailed for having an affair with a 12 year old pupil. " so it wasn't top then?

In your opinion you believe that Catholic schools in Scotland have a better education system. When you asked parents if this is the case and why?? They tell you this isn't the case and you still want to know why this is the case. So I ask this did you go to a protestant school in Scotland as you make no sense I went to several in Scotland England and over seas Before you pass judgement on your opinion of my education

"Religion should have no place in public life, nor should faiths feel entitled to expect any special considerations. Religion is a purely personal superstition - keep it in the home or for church. It should not be allowed to influence the decisions of civil society. " And on that note, surely religion is a 'personal' choice. Shouldn't it therefore be down to the individual child to decide wether they want to follow a certain religion instead of being made to attend a denominational school of their parents choosing?

"Nope they just get more funding than other schools but wouldn't ever say a better education John hmm I'd say the exam results prove differently, is it because taught better morals? " The Catholic Church put more funds into their schools. Certainly isn't because they're taught better morals! I did a placement in one and most of the kids had to be baptised before they could take communion. They certainly weren't all born to married parents either. Probably the exam results are down to only allowing those who will pass to sit the exams.

"Of all the years I've been on this site....this must in my personal opinion the most dumbass thread ever posted. In my opinion and as someone earlier said, with a view to starting a discussion that will more than likely turn into the proverbial west coast issue of religion against religion. However, I'll throw my tuppence in and ask why in this day and age Glasgow City Council as well as lots of other local authorities are building new schools, Catholic and non-denominational where both schools are less than 50% occupied. Some of these schools are 300 metres down the road from each other. Public purse pound is at a premium and we're still battling with the same shit because we don't want to actually deal with the issue and just BUILD a fooking school without a tag or label attached to it." In Renfrewshire we have probably the first shared campus catholic and non denominational schools. Two primary schools in one building. The original two school buildings were identical and separated by about 100m. School is the place religion separates kids. Go to college, uni, work and we're all together regardless of colour and belief. Kids don't understand why their friends go to a different school. But it's the Catholic Church who object to single campus schools. Renfrewshire wanted to build a second single campus school but couldn't.

"Nope they just get more funding than other schools but wouldn't ever say a better education John " Incorrect, what is fact is that Catholic schools are provided by the church a percentage of funding required to run that school, other schools are totally funded by the government.
