What smell(s) brings back happy childhood memories for you?

I love the smell of tar and any time I smell it I always smile and think of my dad who worked on the roads most of his life.

Love the smell of play dough n spent a fair bit of my childhood having a good sniff....smells a lot better than it tastes though!

Also lived close to the local brewery when I were a lad n whenever I get a whiff of the fermentation process these days it takes me right back to my misspent youth!

My 81 year old Dad still does. I will always think of him when I smelt it. And the old soul never leaves the house with a collar and tie on.

I remember going there a few times with my mum and dad. It seemed so magical when you were young.

I lived in the street that ran parallel to the prom so the market took over your life for 10 days.

It was great fun with the lights sounds and smells.

There are 2 smells that can instantly take me back to childhood. One is a wee sweetie shop in Largs. When I go there to stock up I instantly say 'omg this smells like such and suches house' she was an old school baker and her house smelled of sugar and butter etc all the time.

The second is stale whisky. My granny used to get broken up barrels from the local cooperage for the log burner thing we had. I'd open my bedroom door and nearly keel over wi the smell of the sticks. Jeez. I can smell them now!!!
