I was hoping you would start another thread. I had big news last night and wanted to brag but the last thread was full.

6 lbs down this week but even better I've lost 12% of body fat since last year and now only have 5% more to go to get back into healthy levels

Happy to oblige

That's great, well done!

I'm going to have to drag myself to yoga tonight, home now and warming up on the sofa and not looking forward to going out again. Plus I'm worried my legs will still be too sore lol

I've found that it makes life easier for me as I don't eat much during the day and depending on what I am having for dinner I can control the amount of cals going in with it.

Only problem is it is really filling and because I had one for lunch I wasn't able to finish my dinner so now I have to have another to get the cals up, or depending on carbs n fat I might be able to squeeze in a packet of roast beef monster munch

Was wild here this morning!

Supposed to be dry tomorrow afternoon so may be get a wee run then!

Good! 2 minutes faster the last 5k I ran last week! So I was pretty pleased.

2 more minutes faster would be awesome! Speed run tomorrow hopefully and a long run on Sunday or Monday!

Thanks for asking. Fingers crossed you don't have to cancel more sessions!

I have a trainer 5 nights a week and love it, i like that I don't have to work out what I'm going to do, and I love lifting now! I'm up to 100kg deadlift and I've lost 4 stone. It's addictive xx

I think finding what you like doing is important!

I don't like lifting weights, I prefer running and punching a bag.

If it gives you a buzz you're likely to keep doing it.

Pure Gym has a £16.99 pm rolling contract, so you can cancel any time. A few of the classes, like yoga, cost £2 but most are free. There's no pool or steam room, but I don't have time for that anyway so it suits me

Have you tried the spinning in the gym yet ? It's a good class and you can hit your own pace to start with. You can hit back to back classes too as they are only 30min long and not too soul destroying .

Do you use a pure gym PT or an independent? I've seen one or two of the pure gym ones teach 1 to 1 and just standing watching the persons form be terrible.

I actually videoed one not long ago and posted it on the pure gym Facebook page as the persons deadlift form was horrific and she was gonna get hurt. I did mention it to the trainer too and he looked at me like I was crazy .

It all mounts up, also weight doesn't always tell the full story! The mirror doesn't tell any lies, but it can also show more truth than the scales!!

Gym 5 days a week for a year, only a stone off, but the physical changes are massive!

We all have different bodies!

Not all bodies respond the same to exercise!

Not all bodies need the same amount of fuel/energy/food.

That's something I teach my boys!

Also, some women suffer from water retention depending on the time of the month or some type of food others not so much.

So I pay attention to that when I get on the scale.

The scale is still an indicator though!

As for the mirror... yeah! It kinda can lie as the brain has the magical power of distorting that image!

At least, that's what most women I have spoken to will say.

I have lost just over 2 stones in 6 months, diet and running and still can't see all of it gone in the mirror!

Best way, at least for me, what doesn't lie is dropping off 2 dress sizes!!

My opinion anyway

Hope everyone has a good week

Just remember (it may have been mentioned before) not to be a slave to the scale, if your lifting weights chances are you'll not see much if any weight fall off as such. Take a picture every week. Just remember and make the 1st one grey, no make up and hair crap and then in a few months be tanned, make up and hair done lol

In the pool at 7am this morning for a few lengths. That really wakes you up.

My sister made it for my nephews and one of them doesn't like bananas. She said it doesn't taste of bananas but just don't make it in front of them... I think my 2.5 year old nephew had a meltdown when he saw the banana skins.

Coconut oil is 90% saturated fats.

Best fat I've came across is rapeseed, it's simalar to olive oil but since it has a much higher evaporation temp than other oils you only need to use a little.

Unfortunately coconut oil beats everything hands down for taste.

I'd like to join the get fit gang please

Attempted my first run in about 8 months tonight on the way home from work ... went back to the couch to 5k app and jumped back in at week 3 (burst ball now though )

My fit bit tells me that i was only 3.5km from work to home so will need to extend the route as i move up weeks and increase the run / reduce the walking but glad to have at least started again and heres hoping if i keep it up in 6 weeks time i should be able to run for 30 mins straight

That's not quiet true as Coconut oil is high in "natural" saturated fats. Saturated fats not only increase the healthy cholesterol in your body, but also help to convert the LDL “bad” cholesterol into good cholesterols. By Increasing the HDL's in the body, it helps promote heart health, and lower the risk of heart disease.

Get that coconut oil in you.

I do use rapeseed too and it's also a power house for cooking

You will

Used a similar app. They are great.

Used to rearrange my route all the time lol.

Follow the weeks, don't skip one. But don't hesitate to do a week twice towards the end if you feel the pace is too much for you!

It works. Am now running up to 7k comfortably.

Enjoy and good luck

Yeah you're right consistency is important.

And taking your trainers with you is great idea. New routes to boost your run and look around new things.

Am away too back home, taking my trainers, am planning to run a couple of routes I used to do when I was competing in another life lol should be fun... not lol

But remember you don't have to do full sessions. If I feel stiff because of my arthritis or playing footy with my son I will still go out but adjust my session. You can get benefits from a 15/20 mins run.

Doing a little is better than nothing at all!

Hope you're going somewhere sunny

"Is that healthy though? "

Depends what you want to achieve and how long you are doing it for, if you take plenty fluid and you are aware of your diet.

Normally your body burns carbohydrates for fuel. When you drastically cut carbs, the body goes into a metabolic state called Ketosis. So your body begins to burn its own fat for fuel.

This is what you have to do to burn stubborn fat.

Well, that's my understanding and the way I think when I do my low carb intake/workouts.

Couldn't have said it much better yeah so the basics is you bulk up to a big shape, and then you cut to try get that carved definition but it feels like one step forward, two steps back sometimes ! But just depends what works for your body as everyone is different

Belly and inside thighs fat are very stubborn!

Am a bit snookered on belly front as I can't tone this area and do core exercises

So my only hope is for my body using that fat! Easier said than done

I dont think so, but I was away at the weekend and ive maybe eat or drank something I never accounted for.

Apparently there is no truth to the theory that if you eat late night you store more but ive always found I lose more if i dont eat after 6pm.

Seems like you put in a lot of effort to bulk up and now your gonna cut it all ?? I like your approach and believe that bulking and cutting is good to get a summer body but 4st ?! seems like all that effort is gonna go to waste. You could of just had a good diet and a good programme

I know, but I really hoped to get out the 15t stone category. I keep a record of everything I do so ill review it and see if ive done something wrong.

In a way it's made me a bit more determined for this week but its such a kick to the baws when you try hard and dont get the results.

Did you eat late last night?

I find eating early helps. That mean I am 'fasting' from 7pm until 8/9am, breakfast time.

Fingers crossed for you next week x

I dont think so, but I was away at the weekend and ive maybe eat or drank something I never accounted for.

Apparently there is no truth to the theory that if you eat late night you store more but ive always found I lose more if i dont eat after 6pm.

Well done Max

Merci.

And it's amazing the amount of calories in drinks "

The amount of people I see on treadmills and drinking a Powerade or Lucozade sport is madenning. That stuff is full of sugar and all the calories your burning are going back on drinking it, you'd be as well sitting home on the couch wi a tea.

You only need those kinda drinks if your training intensely for over an hour ! You get no more benefit from one of them than you do from a bottle of water if your just just running for an hour or under.

"After bulking up to 16.5 stone over winter I am now cutting for the summer to get beach bod back haha currently 13.7 stone but want to get to 12.5 and less body fat, tonight's session is chest and tri ceps,,I find that diet is hardest ! Especially when not aloud any carbs

Seems like you put in a lot of effort to bulk up and now your gonna cut it all ?? I like your approach and believe that bulking and cutting is good to get a summer body but 4st ?! seems like all that effort is gonna go to waste. You could of just had a good diet and a good programme "

Maybe he just loves food at christmas

There was a famous cyclist like that many years ago, from Germany I think, can't remember his name!

Would put on lots over the winter and still manage to do absolutely brilliant in the Tour de France!!

I never understood that lol and neither did his team tbh lol

Been quite fortunate that I've never really needed to diet but need to improve my fitness. Don't enjoy gym atmosphere to just going to local park early in morning for a run and to use the bars and basic equipment there

I lost a pound in this week. Total 6lbs now. It's coming off slowly but I'll get there. This thread is great for motivation.

I started the 'south beach diet' on Monday. I do it a few times a year to reset my body.

I expect to lose about a stone in 2 weeks, good thing is i never feel hungry on it but bad news is makes training a wee bit harder with my energy levels .

I do like coming in here and getting motivated by all the people who want to make a change in their lives, be it a stone or a pound they want to lose, training for a marathon or to just do a lap of the park ! Keep it up folks . Im happy to offer advice where I can

It's basically a body reset, you can buy the book from amazon for like 99p.

It's no carbs and sugar for the 1st 2 weeks and then you start adding them but still lose weight.

Really simple to follow too

Sorry gonna be a bore BUT

1 or 2 stones in 2 weeks yeah it sounds appealing on paper BUT...

...changing drastically your diet is not for everyone... Medications, health conditions, your lifestyle and so on have to be taken into consideration.

Not everyone knows that some of these diet impact on your vitamins intake and you have to take supplements.

Losing 1 or 2 stones fast will also depends on the body you are starting from!

What about loose skin, in my opinion you are better not cutting corner and toning your muscles and making sure the elasticity of your skin comes back.

Also not everyone can restrict themselves for so long and the falling off the wagon is not good.

Personally I believe in making changes to your diet that you can keep in the long run!

My opinion, but good luck with it

I'd say before anyone tried a diet they should read up on it and see the pros and cons, hence why I was saying to buy the book. My one you can ear as many veggies as you like so should be able to get a health amount of vitamins from that .

There was a really good programme on channel 4 and it was all about diets 'how to lose weight well' it was called . It had my diet and lots of others on it, it's worth watching as you are getting normal people trying these diets, you get the fails and how it worked for them .

Hip was moaning so speed runs were short and sweet. Should be able to increase next week as the massage did good yesterday.
