The problem is finding a pub/venue with free/cheap function room. I tried to organise one in Edin city centre for this November but came up against a brick wall when it came to venues. Good luck to whoever takes it up tho

Maybe be best go oirganise maybe a lunch social one month and a drinks social the next say for maybe 20/25 think this type of social is becoming more popular as it means you get to know mor people as the bigger ones u cant get round to speak to everyone anyway. .

oh yea def not looking to have hundreds of people 30 to 40 ideal that way you def get to no them no point in doing a large event small gathering we think that way im sure we could do a drinks meet with out having to book a private function hall just a few hotels lol

There is a pub in the grassmarket that has a function room in the rear I went to a social birthday engagement party there a good few years ago. Dont think it cost much if anything for the place. Just cant remember the name of the pub.

Been to a few lunch socials in Glasgow and Fife, and agree with Heather and Miss Dynomite 20/25 is ideal everybody gets to chat to each other. That way you dont need a special venue, a restaurant and or a pub. Put my name down Andy.

best idea is to book a table at a restaurant or suchlike and then mail the people who have shoed an interest in attending. Having the venue on the open forum is kinda asking for trouble tbh

You might find venues are easier to get if you go a wee bit outwith the city centre. Haymarket, Stockbridge, the Pink Triangle or the South Side/ University areas are worth considering.

One Haymarket venue is usually fetish/ swing friendly and usually discreet. It's not the biggest venue in Embra though

Even if you know the place I mean, PLEASE don't mention it on the forums.

Just a suggestion, August, fringe time, huge big marquee style bars pop up all over the place and pubs add on marquee areas to cater for the bigger crowds?

Foe the first one why not just say a particular pub to all meet in, do we need a private room for social interraction? Pick a normally quiet pub then the pub gets a good night too and we do not get lots of infiltraters.
