Mrs just asked to leave Black Rose pub on Rose St Edinburgh for kissing a girl outside - bouncer told them they couldnt 'do that'!!!! Wtf?

To be fair there was suddenly a current of hostility within the bar after that - people we'd been buying drinks with/for told us we needed to leave. Bizzare and unsettling then we realised why. Very sad.

We left feeling suddenly very unwelcome. No problem for a heterosexual couple kissing but girl kissing girl clearly not on - perhaps it was the fact the girls were clearly with men?! Does that make it better or worse?!

It's just really sad that two women can't share a kiss and a dance in a pub without the place turning hostile. We were standing by our own table by the door for those who know it certainly not in anyones face

Absolutely. Post on their FB page and tag them on the Twitters. Tag in local LGBT groups, too - they can make a fuss. Not acceptable.

Yeah without doubt go straight to pub management and inform them of this. Give them a chance to defend themselves.

I do not think is it part of the pub remit or is it.

If they did not know about it they might implement training for the bouncer.

But I'm not surprised even on here and at lgbt venues and events there is prejudices towards bi people. I found it surprising at first but now it's just as annoying as all the other idiot prejudices by stupid people.

Agreed, Fab can be very very hostile towards its bi community. In my experience it's always been from women. Never had a single bit of abuse from a guy. Personally I'd love to see a bi forum on here where we can actually talk about things away from those who don't want to hear it."
to many bi folk swing the "hostile" flag. most couldnt care less about folks sexial orientation. until they try to get a meet with someone who does not want sexual contact with a bi person thats not hostile thats a preferance.

I've had people message me out of the blue, with no prior contact to tell me that my sexual preference is disgusting. That's what I mean by hostile.

I would also send a nice letter to Edinburgh city council as they issue the licence that keeps them in business, as part of the licence the are tied to certain rules and regulations of which one is the councils equality policy.

May not do anything in the short term but at least the premises would have to re_iew there own procedures on such matters if they think there licence is at risk.

Perpetuating the idea the bi people can't keep their hands off the same sex. It maybe preference but it's preference borne of ignorance.

It sounds to me like the bouncer is the main issue here. I'd contact the bar directly and, if it seemed to be their opinion too, then that's an issue. However you should give them the opportunity to address it - especially if you do like the place.

Scotland is a weird place sometimes. Backward and simple minded.

If this happened say in a persons private home then I can to some extent understand it. After all a person has the right to set the rules inside their own home.

In a public venue however it is ridiculous to try and impose your own moral values and codes of behaviour on everyone else.

As long as the behaviour is not illegal or at risk of causing physical harm/damage then why should anyone else get all outraged over it?

But in Scotland sadly this kind of nonsense still persists.

Did you ask them why you were being asked to leave? Did they actually say the women kissing was the issue ? If they actually said it was the women kissing then report the bouncer to the pub owner .This gives them opportunity to rectify a situation they are no doubt unaware of . That seems fair rather than shouting homophobia due to one persons actions .

If however if it was not confirmed DEFINITELY it was due to the KISSING then I would say it's highly unfair to splash this on a public forum . We only have your side of the events and as said many times on forum ,there's 3 sides to every story .

Any homophobia is totally unacceptable and certainly needs to be flagged up in the right ways which I'm sure if required you will do op
