Out of curiosity why do you guys have a takeaway? Is it because you work and it's easier, is it due to to not having a lot of people round on the actual day so no point in going to the effort of cooking a part of the day or simply because it's your food of choice?

I suggested it one year although personally I don't like much takeaway food but my Gran was horrified xx

Not too far removed from the tradional turkey dinner. We are having a capon (more moist than turkey) and a gammon joint, dauphinoise potatoes, roast potatoes, the usual veg and all the trimmings.

For pudding Im making a triple chocolate cheesecake and a brandy meringue cake (semifreddo type of dessert) with brandied peaches.

I've always worked in restaurants therefore open Christmas Day so that's why we've always had a takeaway.

A world of my own

I will make party food the night before and we shall graze on that and sweets most of the day and then a chinese take away at night I think.

I don't want to have to spend the day cooking when I could be making the most of the time with my boys. Not often my eldest one stays in these days. So its board games, new toys and movies for us.

Selection of starters (fussy people in my house) Roast Chicken dinner with all the Christmas trimmings.

Dessert will be a selection too. A few drinks then going to friends for more drinks, party games and nibbles (the edible variety, still sounds naughty but maybe just in my head) you know what I mean. I love Christmas and surround it with the people I cherish the most.

If this year has taught me anything it's not what's under the tree it's who's around it that really matters.
