" "thats ironic, pay licence fee to watch unemployed wasters cashing giros that my tax pays for ! bring back national service"!"

Your tax paid for teachers over worked, under paid, un motivated, un appreciated, before that came parents clueless thinking teachers would do most of what they could'nt be arsed doing!!

We are geared up not to care about anyone else apart from ourselves, we look out the window and take some daft comfort in the "its no my problem", yes it is, cause nobody cares so long as "im awrite jack", i pay my taxes too, i work my ass off just to pay the frikkin rent, but if nobody cares, nothing solves it, they are the result of nobody really caring!!!

We watch thousands of people thousands of miles away get killed in natural disasters and we kinda care, but take again a daft comfort in the fact its not here!!

Same applies to the scheme, we kick back and feel glad we just aint there,

Ok.sweeping generalisation, teachers job is cushy, and bankers getting thousands in bonuses is deserved? Yip i often see teachers with the latest Merc rolling into schools etc.

Missing the point!! Why do kids exit schools without even the basic ability to read or count???

Because they (mostly) enter schools wholly unprepared for what's going to be offered to them over the ensuing 11-18 years and beyond.

The proverb about not being able to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear springs to mind.

Unless parents do the groundwork in the years before their little angels get to school, no amount of work by teachers is going to produce good results.

Why do teachers have "cushy" lives?? Are they not allowed to have nice cars like other people do .... is the generalization because they get so many holidays per year???

There's no question that some, a few, have it easy. For them it's no more than quite a decent amount of pin money (after a few years service) for little more than 'teaching' 5 year olds to wipe their noses and tie their shoelaces.

Others have it a wee bit tougher.

Working with children is a very challenging job, people who have the opinion it is a "cushy" way to make a living should sign themselves up for a week or two and see how long they last!

Re poor teachers- lose the interest of the children in the class and you have a bear pit where keeping control is tenuous in the extreme. How cushy do you think that is? And most head teachers with 30 years' experience don't get £50k, let alone classroom teachers.

I was being simply ironic with the "cushy" comment, of course theres nothing cushy about such a job, which is why i said what i said prior to the that,no offence intended.

That may not be quite correct. If you visit the salary_scales page on the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) website you'll see salaries for headteachers and deputy heads go into the low £80,000s.

Parts of Scotland give themselves a bad name quite nicely with needing a tv programme.

We could, of course, pretend all's well with Scotland. That everything in the garden is rosy and nothing need change - like Brigadoon.

Or, as seems more sensible, we can accept that there are problems, confront them and address them, learn from stuff that's worked elsewhere and make this country - the WHOLE country - a better place to live.

yes its not nice to see some of the things that go on behind doors(or on the street for that matter)but remember this could have been filmed in any large housing estate in Britain, and mite have been even more harrowing.

I feel sorry for the decent fok from that area and Kilmarnock itself, painted the place as full o wasters, and they are very much in the minority as there are many decent folk in Killie, a few of em you will see on here!

Quite enjoyed the programme but sub-titles would have helped a bit couldn't understand that girl with the "fuck me" glasses. One possible solution to the problems of some of those people could be selective culling. Think of the money saving no more free rent and drug prescriptions.

Tell me this....

I got made redundant in February....

This is now June and I still can't find work......

I am struggling to pay a MORTGAGE, and keep a roof over my head never mind put food on the table....

I look out my front window every Friday

and Saturday night and there is a gang of Marvin's and Chrissy Cunninghams running about causing mayhem...

You could cut their dicks off with a rusty blunt saw and they wouldn't feel it because of the drugs.....Each and everyone of them has wads of cash falling out of their tracky bottoms??????

I don't live in Kilmarnock...I don't live in an inner Glasgow Scheme,,,

I live in a leafy affluent suburbia where the people at the top of MY STREET all drive BMW,MERCEDES,LEXUS, ..........

What did I do wrong.......

"................

What did I do wrong......."

What have you done to stop it? There's a _iew that people end up living in the worst circumstances they're prepared to tolerate. It's just a vicious spiral that goes down and down until someone shouts ENOUGH!

It's difficult, though not impossible, to get things changed if there's an established pattern of the behaviour you describe so it's better not to allow it to start in the first place.

How you do it now depends on things like your relationship with the people at the other end of your street, your community cops and so on but, if you want it changed, you're going to have to be the one who starts the ball rolling.

BBC Scotland has an obligation to produce or commission x number of hours per year of Scottish made programmes in differing categories (drama, music, documentary and so on).

The Scheme ticked a box and it was cheap to make.

We have a neighbourhood watch system, the Police are called 3 or 4 times a night EVERY weekend. By the time they react the crowds have dispersed and disappeared into folks gardens and out of the area.

My neighbour and myself actually went out to a crowd one night who were causing a disturbance......Police warned us we could have been charged if it had kicked off.......

Wonder why I'm looking for a job abroad.......
