Only if prescribed by a gp. Otherwise stick to the instructions on the box. (200-400mg up to three times daily, with or after food).

After being prescribed Ibrupofen for too long, I now can't take any.

And was told Paracetamol is much better. I don't have a choice anyway now, so it's Paracetamol or Paracetamol codeine

Why do we take these painkillers?

I appreciate that some people need them, but are our gps over prescribing?
