"I witnessed a railway suicide last week - it was horrific and far messier than you'd imagine. More like an explosion.. I've been left with a lot of anxiety and panic. Has anyone else been through a major trauma like that? How did you get over it? (I know this isn't "sexy" but you're a good bunch of people. I thought you might have advice)" Glad to say I've never witnessed it, but my nephew who was the train driver did first hand. He needed a lot of counselling and couldn't go back to driving, he has rebuilt his life and still works for the railway, I don't think he'll ever get over it, but has learned to live with it. My heart goes out to you. Xx

"Sorry you had to witness this OP. I would go and see your GP as soon as possible, Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is not something you can deal with on your own. Depending on your symptoms, your doctor will direct you in the right direction. Good luck and big hugs OP." what max said, I normally turn up to the aftermath of an accident and I've seen some horrendous things over the years, not trying to sound macho but I'm lucky that these things don't bother me and I'm able to do my job, we have councillors on hand if need be and some guys have used the service which helped them a lot. See your gp asap as the quicker you deal with it the easier it'll be to recover.

"Gp and counselling as soon as possible the longer you leave it the more complex it gets as well as forming your own coping strategys that can be counter productive" This 100%

"Thanks everyone. I've taken a deep breath and registered with a Dr (I've just moved...) I hope to get an appointment soon. You've been really helpful. My mind is all over the place right now: sometimes you need people telling you to do the right thing. " Good luck xx your doing the right thing

But make sure you chase them for an appointment asap, bug them till you get seen. And if even you feel tomorrow or the day after that you are having a better day, still go and seek help. You need professional support. Good luck. x
