"Mike Towell might disagree (sorry) sad what happened but dont you think he would have actually agreed with that given his life long love of the sport?" I can see what you're getting at - human beings will always push themselves to dangerous levels in the name of some kind of physical achievement in sport etc. For me though, and it's just my opinion. Other combatative sports don't do full contact(though some do, I'm thinking controlled karate, judo, fencing etc... but it seems strange to me that boxing has the "no hitting below the belt" gentlemanly sports type ethos yet you're allowed to hit the most vunerable part of the human anatomy as hard as you can. I do understand pitting yourself against an opponent but I don't get beating him to a pulp as part of that being good sportsmanship. I know lots get it - I just don't!

I think for yourself and your opinion your completly correct though for those who do like contact sports you couldnt be further from the truth as they see it. its part and parcel of that given sport. I couldnt agree with beating to a pulp as it simply dosnt happen referees and other safeguards are in place.

Nobody knows what's round the corner x" We all fight from the day we were born. Standing up for yourself in this world happens on a daily basis even if it is covered with the "veneer" of what we call society. Many fight in other ways, against physical or mental disability. I take your point about dying doing something you love no matter what others think of it. The diversity of things people enjoy is what makes human beings so successful as a species. I have to disagree with your notion that everyone should have even at least a semi-contact fight, that's you imposing what you think is right on others. However I wonder if you asked Mike Towell.. would you rather die in the ring doing what you love or hold your son in your arms, be there for him and watch him grow, guide him to be as good a man as you are or better... I wonder which he would choose x We can agree to differ x

Are you talking street fight, 'controlled' fight??? How can a fight push and better you??
