A Galaxy Far, Far Away & Spain

A few Threads have got me thinking today (& I've got some time to kill whilst I'm waiting for my potatoes to boil).

So here's a potted history of my time as a Newbie on Fab.

I migrated from another (paying) Adult Site that had a great Scotland Chatroom, lots of technical issues, but also where the members ran some amazing Socials. So I wasn't a complete Newb to the online fun & games of Chatrooms.

When I came to Fab it had a very small membership in comparison to the other sites, the old "Beta" Chat, & I didn't even think of using the Forums. It was years down the line before I ventured onto them & decided to post on a few Threads.

As I say, I knew some folk from Socials & Chatrooms, but discovered that the "Forumites" were a group unto themselves. Most never ventured into the Chatrooms, some did, but not many. So it was almost like a new group of people to chat to, get to know & maybe Meet.

Now, I'm not that shy a person & some might even say abound with confidence, though I can also have my sensitive side. That said, I do & can look after myself. However, I'm mostly here to have a laugh, share experiences, & most importantly... get my hole.

On my first day of posting I probably had way too much time on my hands, jumped right in, & searched the Forums posting on numerous Threads, over a variety of subjects.

One female in particular (later) admitted that her first response to me was from a position of viewing me with suspicion, a bit curt, a tad sarcastic, & (as a Regular Forumite poster) a little lacking in good manners.

As previously mentioned, I don't take the online world seriously (Im here for Meets), can stand up for myself, & responded with humour but firmly stating I wasn't about to be chased off by someone who, according to her profile, had less time on the site & no Meet Verifications.

(Ironically, we've since become friends, had differening opinions on a few topics, & still keep in touch to this day).

Others later admitted they also viewed me suspiciously from being online "over a year" (probably about five by then) yet never wandered into the Forums - I was too busy Meeting folk & finding my way, discovered no who was & wasn't worth hooking up with.

Back then you couldn't use your phone to gain access to Chatrooms, & even today it's a pain to use on a smartphone. So the Forums are easier to enter, chat to folk & exchange banter & information. It's like going to the pub without the downside of a hangover.

I quickly learned from other Forumites the keystrokes to find out what Threads others post on, Threads I've posted on, & how to quickly access my last post.

I also learned the type of folk I'm most likely to chat with in real life, who I'd likely ignore & those who shared my sexual preferences... even some who don't but are fun to have breakfast with.

When I posted that I was attending certain Socials some even went out of their way to scout me out & introduce themselves.

All in all, I can't say I regret standing my ground (even though I now chuckle at my over enthusiasm on posting on so many Threads that first day), or my light hearted approach to joining the Forums, or the naive way I responded to people if they "quoted" me. I learned a lot... sometimes from falling down, making mistakes, & getting right back up again.

I've also come a cropper with my sense of humour, sometimes at inappropriate times, but on the whole folk come to realise I don't mean any harm & what they see is what they get.

So... cast your mind back to when you were a Newbie, remember your excitement, enthusiasm, or even your trepidation & your shyness, & find your own way of making your mark on the Forums (or any other part of the site), have fun, & most importantly - meeting new folk you enjoy having good sex with.

Thanks for reading.

I meet a few from the forum at weekend at glasgow social who i had seen post and chatted breifly with. People i normal wouldnt have crossed paths with.

I made a point of speaking to them and glad i did.

When i first joined i only spoke with people i would meet and as im straight it meant never had opportunity to chat to some of the lovely ladies.

The past 6 months having started using forums i now have met so many lovely people and look forward to meeting even more.

We hadn't been here long when I went to my first lunch social, was very nervous but was made welcome and met some lovely people.

Since then I've always chatted on the forums, and been nice to everyone until I've had a reason not to. I don't really use the chat rooms as I've never been a fan of them in any form, C on the other hand uses the chat but doesn't come in here. So between us we have everything covered

Sometimes he'll message someone that I'm not keen on based on what I've seen on the forums, that's when the notes come in handy, lol!

Status Updates: Yet ANOTHER topic. Yup, got some memorable ones in Notes too. Some classic, some humorous, some are gibberish, some are utter bonkers, & yes some are so vile I'd never consider meeting those folk.

If MI6 or Sydney University ever need info on folk I'm their man.

Uh-huh, being a Newbie in Scottish Chatroom almost a decade ago when I was (practically) the only gay in the... Chatroom. Well, OUT Gay, not Fab Straight, & not even the new "Fab Bi" (Bi guys with only M Friends/Veris).

Jeez, a much more innocent time.

Still, I've persevered & it's been a helluva journey, with a great bunch of friends I completely didn't expect to gain.

Im not a newbie, i just prefer lurking about the forums, been here since 2011, and stayed around till 2014 i think now, then took a break away.

And no not new to these kind of sites either, i used to belong prob to the same one that Random was prob part of for yrs and i paid, ive also got which i dont use either anymore even though they seemed popular also lol, groups from a well known search engine, all based around my area, i kind of created 3 local groups.

I also used to be more communicative and open but when you use a site which is a game since 2006, and in a way im roleplaying as another character for a long time, you tend to forget the real person that you are literally, conversations tend to have yourself talking as in the 3rd person a lot of the time that im very much more shyer than i once was..ie i used to be incommunicado with people for a long time and well was obsessed a heck of a lot.

So yes its why i felt it was time i needed to get back into the real world and find the real me, where i love to play but found that i was safer behind a computer

Anyways...goes back in her corner

Wow. Talk about bringing back memories

Ok....so I came over from another pay site as a couple but we split and so I joined as a single guy.

I confess, I wasn't very active for probably a year or so. Just logged on every now and then. I could go weeks without logging on.

Then, I made a conscious decision to be more active. I couldn't keep up with chat so I ventured in to the Scotland forum.

I made mistakes. Was viewed as a twat. Got several bans. Learnt my lesson.

I then realised the secret was to just be myself.

Be a cheeky bugger but keep it lighthearted.

Avoid drama and conflict.

I've been lucky enough to make some really wonderful friends. (To those I haven't spoken to in a while - sorry, you know how crap I am )

I've been to socials. Met my 2 best friends and will be there for them til the day I die.

I've seen some dark dark times on here.

I've also seen some amazing times on here.

If people wonder what I mean, just use the search box and type in 'bru' 'panda' 'homework' 'dear Deirdre'

You'll see.

A world of my own

I migrated to an extent from that other site you mention. I've still got post traumatic stress from a certain dracula at a Halloween social. Never let Mr Random play matchmaker..

I left Fab pretty quick the first time after being a bit overwhelmed by messages ( I didn't have pics so was obviously more appealing as a shadow)

I found the forums and just jumped in really.

Ive been and gone a couple of times. I don't like drama and don't take anything on here seriously. Fab is a boredom thing for me.

Reading this post took me wwwway back! Did any one else subscribe to a magazine for swingers in Scotland's? It all seems so surreal now when I think about it. My husband and I placed an advert which was allocated a reference number, then once a month (I think) we got and envelope mailed to us with individual replies to our advert. Some even had POLAROID pictures in them Getting a meet wasn't the quickest process in the world.

Don't ya just love the internet

A Galaxy Far, Far Away & Spain

"Wow.

You'll see.

"

I was reading some of the old threads recently. There were a few belters in there with so many laughs & fond memories.

It also reminded me how naive I could be, how funny, & ,yes, even a few mean moments where my humour (& ego) might have been perceived as inappropriate. On the whole though I hope people learned not to take me too seriously, & to ignore me when I was being too flirty.

That all said, it's all part of a great journey of discovery.
