"Me

I lurk "

No you don't.

As a lurker who has very recently decided to be more active i find it pretty pointless.

As i have said on my own topic after it was hijacked and taken completely off topic..... It was just being used (as many other threads are used) by the same predictable people as a vehicle for their private in jokes.

It makes it difficult and pretty pointless to become more active within the forums.

And I know Exactly who will respond in mock outrage lol

again it's an open forum and it's an opinion that you (like everyone else),is entitled to

I'm not a lurker, I find the forums a great tool to get to know people and for them to know me. You can see people's personality a lot better than in private messages

WTF Bunkie, there's cake & shrapnel EVERYWHERE!!!

I'm not cleaning up this mess. There's hundreds & thousands in crevices & cracks, icing that frosted over harder than a glacier, & a bunch of terrified lurkers in the Lobby quivering in fear.

You might want to change that "we don't bite" to "we just fight".

Im away back to the "Can we just be happy" Thread to sing a few new verses. Call me when the paramedics have been.

Just read back through. It's a shame that some people feel excluded as that's never been my experience, I've always found the forums to be a welcoming place on the whole, I came in with a positive attitude and put myself out there to get to know people.

There are some forum regulars who try to keep it a lighthearted and fun place, I don't see anything wrong with that. If their threads aren't your cup of tea then you don't need to read them. I suspect it's more personality clashes though, there does seem to be grudges held for reasons that are unknown to me.

If you find the forums winding you up, then taking a break from them for a while might help. I've sometimes felt bored or irritated by a thread or someone's attitude, I can't change them but I can change my response, by stepping away I don't let it get to me.

You just have to read up to see why the OP started this post

Me...I don't lurk as I said way up before folk started name calling I post when I feel the need to ask something

But you can see why alot do lurk and are afraid of posting with fear of getting round up on and shot out the sky

Me...Iv been around long enough to laugh it off..it's all virtual and not the real world...but...some sat on here all day everyday...well..that does say more about them

I'm a semi lurker, I enjoy reading some posts, and if on the odd occasion I feel I have something to add, normally a just for a laugh comment. I don't feel excluded by anyone, most of my posts will get a or a from the so called cliques or random lurkers popping their heads up. But that's just life, there are a lot of friends use the forum, people who know each other in and out of fab, some may have even bonked each other, if you're out and about and there is a bunch of friends chatting in a pub, you over hear the conversation and you try to make conversation by throwing in a witty remark, if it's a good bunch and your comment is relevant and funny, they'll invite you into the conversation, and if it's not, they'll look at you funny and whisper under their breath, who's that twat I have loads of friends through school, work and sport, so I don't need accepted by that particular group of friends, but it's always nice to make new friends, and maybe the next group you interact with will welcome your chat and friendship, I hope the moaners aren't lacking in friends, and feel that the people of fab are their last resort in having some kind of companionship, I have made a few close friends on fab, but we chat using a thing called a mobile phone,it was invented a lot of years ago, they used to be the size of a brick, but now you can wear one around your wrist, it's truly amazing! Jeez I've waffled on some pish, if you have taken the time to read this, I hope you at least said for fucks sake with a smile on your face

"I mostly lurk in the Scottish Forum, I have never really liked the dynamic that exists most of the time.

Care to expand on this _iew mate?"

No I am only interested in my enjoyment and I know what I like and what I don't. I won't say people have to post in certain manner or with a few friends, or the masses. I couldn't care as they mean little to me and I even less to them and that's cool

I have been here long enough and using the forums that I have seen it all, the dramas, the hissy fits, the declarations of leavings and the rest.

That all pales into insignificance, I suggest all newbies get involved, chat away and build friendships. There is a lot of fun to be had and some very nice people.

If & when it gets tetchy, always maintain your dignity, that says way more than what is said...

Bunky's intention was a welcoming one

So, for all the lurkers out there....

The moral of the story is....

Don't lurk. Post drivel. Post intelligent stuff. Post your favourite cake.

Grow a thick skin and take it on the chin.

But most of all - dare to join in and share your differences with others.

I'm mainly a forum lurker these days or more like a forum avoider. The fact that nearly every thread is taken over by two guys and their followers is really starting to grate on me. It used to be an interesting place but nobody can talk about anything because the cake comment gets dragged out. It was funny the first time but after 2 years of hearing it, it's just irritating now

Not so much a lurker I just tend to comment on threads that interest me. Rather than post nonsense on ones that don't.

Being on here near 9 years they'll always be cliques on forum/chat whatever .

But do see why some folk don't join in. Some threads are the same people having the same convo over like 4 or 5 threads. But such is life and as someone already said they can post where they want.

If everyone played nice and was no drama most would find fab a dull place

A world of my own

Sometimes I lurk. Sometimes I post. Sometimes I get ignored and sometimes I engage in debates. Ive blocked and been blocked. I don't take anything on fab seriously.

Sometimes the forums can be a giggle. Sometimes they are just far too full of drama.

That said, there are one or two nice people you can encounter along the way.

Infuriatung as it can be it will never change, in the last 9 years it is just a case of different people "having an opinion" and "being able to post what they want when they want" and the trick to enjoying your time here is leave them too it.

If you want to post do so, when drama occurs avoid like the plague keep your dignity and remember this is a virtual world where many try and stand out not always in the best way.

The most interesting part of this post for me was another member being abusive to someone they disagreed with, I wonder if it was because it was a female that nobody commented as I'm pretty sure a bloke would have still been getting slated!!

Have fun guys don't get hung up on the small things xx

It was good fun and I tried to think up different things to talk about but then I irritated some people with my threads too.

I guess things in moderation rather than posting the same thing over again is best.

Does someone need a hug?

Two years? Really? My maths is WAY out.

I never lurked, I just threw myself in there & learned from the good, the bad, & yes the ugly side of Fab Forums.

We all have things that can bug us, we all have traits others find appealing or not so appealing. Like real life we filter out the things which are important & ignore that which is not so important.

Ultimately, it's a public space & everyone is entitled to talk about whatever they want. After all it's a shared space for everyone. Those who attend & post daily, & those who post less frequently. What should always be important, but is sometimes forgotten is to let others play & post however they feel comfortable, & just ignore what is irritating or grates on your nerves. If ultimately you find this place isn't right for you to express yourself I find a good solution is to take a break, find other outlets. I've found this a good way to keep things fresh, but still somehow familiar. After 7 months away I can say I didn't miss the place, but wanted to reconnect with old friends. It can do wonders & by then there's always newbies who don't know you from Adam (or Eve).

Now, do you want that wee cuddle... or some cake?
