Just curious as to how you go about getting an invite to parties on here without actually having to invite yourselves!..as we've been to one and that's exactly what we had to do!..lol..Like Billy Connolly would say you don,t get invited you have to go looking for them..and sadly so far that just seems to be the case..Would really just like someone to open the door and welcome us in instead of just standing there knocking!..My knuckles are bleeding!

Thing is a lot of folk put them on the Meets section and that's exactly what you have to do is ask.

Even though mrs dlt and myself have been on for ages in various profiles etc,we still have to message the party hosts to get our names down.

An invite is never guarenteed,failing that host your own party

Every now and then someone may notice your profile taking a liking to it and invite you but more often than not youll find you will have put yourselves forward when someone advertises their party

I would like to arrange a party but not sure where to start. Problem is that I don't have an extensive friends list or verifications a mile long so am wary of just putting out a blanket invite.

Best bet. Arrange ur own. That way u get to know other people and also meet different people who are looking at attending partys.

make it a limit of who you invite,x amount of single guy's, girls and couples

Yeah it seems that way..but whenever we check meets and events..nothing!..the only one we've been to was advertised on there status..but thanx!..Xx

I agree but it is who to invite into my house. No offence to honest people but would like to invite people who aren't going to wreck the place.

and that's where the verifications CAN but not always,come in handy

We were at one a few weeks ago for exactly that reason and if it hadn't been for a couple we had been talking to before it..we would have been sitting on our own ..as sadly it was anything but social!..Xx

Well we all know there are a few. I mean u can view it anyway u like. To me its a group of people who have met and clicked. As long as they arent excluding or being nasty to others its not always a bad thing

We do both of these - we have a post up about our party asking interested parties to get in touch, plus we also message profiles that we like the look of and people that we have already met

I would definitely agree with some of the comments above about responding to meets advertising parties, or having your own but there are different types of parties so it depends what you are looking for.

Warning: Personal Opinion reflected here.

There are three types of parties:

(1) public socials, which are generally advertised on forums and held in public places.

(2) private parties fab users have (social or otherwise) and invite friends (sometimes with friends of friends too).

(3) private parties (again social or otherwise) users have but invite people they have seen on fab, or its an open invite.

Best way (I think) to get into these:

(1) Watching the forums and adding people who post a few, because they might advertise them on their profiles too.

(2) This is generally for friends, so you can host your own party or make friends with people in other ways (like messaging, going to clubs or attending bigger events etc) which can often lead to invites.

(3) Respond to meets, chat and put yourself out there

All of this is just my personal ideas/opinions based on our experiences, but hope some of it its helpful to you.

I started having social meets at a local pub quiz. This will be our third quiz night but although small numbers (6-7) at first it looks like a good turn out this week. I've started doing them fortnightly.

It's just at a local pub and locals will be there too. Maybe you could do something like that to meet more people. Then maybe party invites will be more forthcoming.

As someone who used to host regular parties you soon realise who is reliable. A lot of people are 'desperate' to come along and then don't appear. So you tend to invite those you know will attend. If new comers say they will come you just wait and see! Some then call this cliquish I call it reliable. So ask to come along, turn up, be respectful and have lots of fun and you will soon start getting lots more invites! Simples! X

I think simply enquiringly about availability of space is a good side step - you're not really inviting yourselves but showing your availability

. We put posts up on the forum and the meets section for people to enquire - I think if someone is actively looking for a party and already know they are free on that day then they are more likely to show up.

(I'm sure we did send you an invite to our last party
