"Miss know all about Allergies and intolerance here!!! I wish I didn't but with kids both having allergies and one with severe diet restriction I needed to know. I learnt it all from the web and my personal knowledge and mistakes. Dieticians were useless. I find knowing about all the E numbers and where they come from a great help when reading labels. Good association around for people who are coeliac with a little booklet you can receive containing food lists. But yeah you need to spend time reading labels. I have IBS too and found peppermint capsules and tea does help. I can talk about it at length so you are welcome to message me privately if you have any questions. Happy to help " Aaaaawwwww I'm sorry. My IBS is triggered by wheat or gluten. Going through the menapause does make it more challenging lol. It just a bit difficult when you have a meet up and you explain nothing is wrong when you're not eating or snacking. Then you say you have IBS or wheat allergy and the conversation turn "non flirty". Just awkward sometimes. I do treat myself with a lot of alternative /herbal treatments and have been doing really well. Love a good herbal tea. Thank you for the advice and offer. Xxx

" Then you say you have IBS or wheat allergy and the conversation turn "non flirty". Just awkward sometimes. " Really??? That's awful. IBS or Allergies don't affect a meet. It's only if you do eat and start reacting that it can affect the meet potentially!! But otherwise it not a problem. Well, that's my opinion

"Just found out today I'm lactose intolerant , no idea about it " I'm lactose intolerant and have been for years. There's loads of good alternatives to milk now, either nut or soya based. Vitalite is also dairy free without the free from price tag!! They do put milk powder in loads though. You'll find your shopping time will increase to start with from reading labels but you'll soon pick up what you can and can't have. Xx

"(Nessarosa ) More the subject of allergies or dietary concerns. I'm wheat and gluten free due to IBS. I was wondering who has had problems or solutions about meetings, restaurants, functions ect. with dietary issues. I know some allergies can be quite dangerous. I'm a coeliac but it's not on my profile. I generally wouldn't mention it unless I'd been glutened and felt ill... Although I'd probably not be meeting in those circumstances! If I'm going out and there's a buffet or something I either mention it to the person or I make the call to eat before I go and just not touch it. However, if it was something serious like a peanut allergy where other person eating them or having nut body products could set it off then I think you'd just mention it while chatting and before meeting. It wouldn't put me off meeting someone. Xx We put it at the bottom of our profile (if someone reads that far..lol). Any tips? Shared info? Fellow IBS or wheat free fabers out there? Kisses, Nessarosa "

Xx" Don't know if you have read about it but there seem to be a lot of controversy with the use of soya milk. Perso, I have stopped giving it to my son as he was drinking a lot on top of soya yogurts etc... so switched years ago to almond and then hazelnut milk to be on the safe side. Soy is a plant based estrogen which contains two isoflavones, genistein and daidzein, which act like estrogen (the female sex hormone) within the body. Because estrogen plays a role in everything from breast cancer to sexual reproduction, this is where most of the soy controversy comes from.

" Your doctor should also be able to provide prescriptions for certain things which in Scotland are currently free of charge. " Not for everyone though And it would depend on the area you are in. However all the prescriptions for children's are free and you can order bread, pasta etc... Again depending on your area and/or practice you will have to do your own research for products available on the nhs. The list of products available on the nhs has reduced considerably unfortunately

It's expensive but necessary in a lot of cases of coeliac. Thanks for the heads up.

Number of kids have increased too. And with supermarket getting better products it's no wonder that the nhs list is getting smaller and smaller

"I'm allergic to eggs and nuts and was gluten free for 2 years. Tbh having one allergy is a piece of cake (no irony intended) it's when you've got multiples it becomes a pain! Don't be duped by FREE FROM versions of things that are already free from whatever you're allergic to! There are things in that aisle purely to get extra cash out of you. Thankfully it's the law now so restaurants are always really helpful. Most places have an allergy menu if you ask... took me a wee while not to feel a bit self-conscious about it but really they don't mind." We do a lot of ingredients reading. .. Lidle has a lot of normal products without wheat. But I do know with a bit of creativity cooking from scratch is fun and challenging. I do feel bad for multiple alergies. You have my thoughts. Nice to see everyone sharing

"And just a wee note for people with gluten/wheat/dairy allergies. Most 'Ham' in France contains wheat/blé and this is not the case in the UK. Mash potato powder contains milk/lait. Just thought I would mention it for people travelling " I spend quite a bit of time in France and I find it to be the worst country in terms of allergy sympathy! But I love cheese and wine so I forgive them.

In France they have 'Bio' Shops and Para-pharmacies, they specialise in alternative products, where you can go and buy organic products and allergy products. You should check it out when you are over
