Do some people bring it on themselves?

Obviously folk get messages they don't like and there are going to be some completely out of order ones landing in inboxes, which is never fair and not anything I'd condone.

I do, however, see a few folk that always complain about the messages and could block a lot of it in their settings quite easily but decide not to for some reason.

They also seem to be the people that don't mind giving out abuse non stop in statuses etc

I tend to have little sympathy when that happens, what do others think?

You mean like the straight single guys that complain about getting harassed by gay/bi men? Yeah, they could use their filters but then they may not get any messages at all.

Tbh, I think they're really just look at me posts.

and to add to it we do have some male friends we have met socially and are friends with so would end all conversations which would be a shame

Can you not still chat to folk on your friends list even if they are out with your settings?

I have had 2 abusive messages today for one guy because I said no to anal, so are you saying that I asked for the abuse that I got from him,

Plus are you trying to say if a woman has a short skirt on, she is asking for it

I just don't get bothered and delete n move on. Seems a simple thing to do tbh.

thats the Scottish forum we stuck up a jokey post the other day about chancers when we had put up a meet for a single fem we got quite a few responses in the right vein a few just block and move on ones ( bit extreme for chancing arm) and then a few way over the top accusatory messages of single guy bashing etc where people deliberately misread your comment to start an argument

Can't see the reason for being abusive, it's not like telling someone they are hating on single guys is gonna get them to say yeah you know what your right lets meet now is it

"Do some people bring it on themselves?"

In my opinion, yes.

And they can regularly be found all over the forum 'complaining' about it.

I used to get lots of messages from bi/gay/tv/ts guys offering to turn me but had no idea why I seemed so popular. I was at a club down in Derby and was chatting to a couple who pointed out I'd kinda brought this on myself. When I first joined Fab, my username was Mr_Curiosity (it's a very cool Jason Mraz song) and I was generally curious about the whole lifestyle. The husband pointed out that 99/100 guys would scan my profile and assume I was bi-curious... hence the attention. Changed my username and now get barely 10% of what I got before.

As for blocking, I only use it sparingly on people I've messaged who do the 'instant delete', more to remind myself not to message again. I've never been a 'cut and paste' kinda guy. If I've read a profile and like what I see I'll send a message saying hello with a couple of pics. As a single guy profile, most get a no thanks, but the odd one will go from being 'unread' to 'deleted' in less than a minute. Plenty of other friendly polite folk on the site to converse with.
