I discovered my more kinky side after being introduced to the BDSM scene earlier this year and I am now a regular attendee at The Auld School.
First things first, I have to say The Auld School is a fab venue and is great for newbies and the more experienced kinksters alike. There is a serious amount of toys and equipment to try out and there are always people there to show you how to use them. Mistress Megara is an experienced Domme who I have to say is very approachable, down to earth and completely non-judgemental. My Dom/ Master, is also on hand to help people explore their kinky sides. (He is also pretty awesome with rope if anyone is particularly keen to find out more about Shibari) The first time I went along, I really didn't know anyone but everyone was so friendly I honestly ended up having a fantastic night. I love it for both the vast array of play opportunities as well as the social side. I've met a lot of cracking folk there including one I can honestly say is my new bestie!
Second of all, a lot of people, including myself initially, confuse kink and sex. Although they can go hand in hand, they are also very different things in their own respects. To me, BDSM is more about the journey (exploring fantasies and fetishes without judgement in a safe environment) and the relationships formed rather than just any 'end result'. If you mix the two, in some instances, it can become a safety issue as if you are thinking with your downstairs brain, you aren't always thinking properly!! There is also a big difference to someone being dominant in the bedroom and being an actual dominant and in any true D/s relationship, it's the the submissive that actually has the real power. Personally, I find as a submissive, my D/s relationship gives me a sense of escape and I can't explain how awesome that is. To give control of my body and pleasures to another person, to entrust them with the responsibility of keeping me safe and to help push my limits, gives me a deeper connection than if I was to jump into bed with them and for me, is ultimately far more gratifying. |
