Surely when you go to look at car you want to buy you make sure any flaws (like worn tyres) are pointed out to salesman and only agree to buy if these flaws are sorted before picking it up..or is that just me

Not sure if I'd ever buy a used car either again, stick to new ones now, easier with the warranty

I drove from Glasgow to Falkirk to buy a car from another dealer to avoid giving Arnold Clark the business. Renowned for poor customer service. Many satisfied customers I hear, but too many angry customers. Automotive Russian Roulette going to AC!

Had problems with my new ford since December it's been into 3 different dealers and in the end I forced them to replace it. New one is identical and already doing much better mileage so I reckon the first was a rogue but I agree, never go to Arnold shark

Hi, must be the worst dealer in the history of dealers.

My wife had a similar problem, the car went back and forth for repair, trading standards got involved so she was offered another car at the same price, so far so good, but never again. Jim

Don`t get me started about arnold fucking shark!!!!!!

bought 2 cars from them over the years.. 1st one was back 7 times for a braking fault they couldn't fix...5 times for an aircon fault...and 3 times for poor starting...fixed it myself at my own expense after they said car was faultless... 2nd car had so many flaws that after they admitted liability of selling an unfit vehicle they tried to use legal threats to stop me taking them to court.... mention the sunday papers though...they shit a brick!!!

I just started in the new showroom next to reg vardy, all those whinging n moaning please appreciate that selling cars is easy

Ever sucker through the door will buy any fix or repair daily if you hint at discounts or free tank of gas

Women buyers go wet when you mention convertibles or 4x4s with tinted wing mirrors invisable indicators and of course free sweeties

I used to work for them as a Salesman.

My experience is as follows:

NO such thing as Customer Service they don't know the meaning of the phrase

Valeting and service department do as little as possible.

SALESMEN. What folk don't know is these guys are on £50 a sale.

If you pay cash, card etc the Salesman is not interested

If you pay by HP katching £150 commission, if you take warranty etc. Katching another £100.

That is why salesmen bend over backward and make false promises to get your sale, they make peanuts unless you sell add ons like warranty and Hire Purchase and let's face it who pays by cash.

High staff turnover is due to:

Whilst in your first 12 week training period (training is a 4 day joke) you are not allowed to speak to customers.

After 12 weeks the branch I was in expected you to sell a minimum of 3 cars midweek and double that over the weekend

After you were there 6 months or more your sales targets are approx 10+ cars per week.

Don't beat your target, don't have a job simple

Hours of work are 4 x10hr shifts and 2 x 12 hour shifts and this is compulsory EVERY week

Where I worked there was a guy that worked 6x 12 hr shifts ie a 72 hr week and earned approx £8,000-£10,000 a month.

Me, I left because I found selling cars easy and could make the targets I just couldn't tell lies to honest hard working people and steal their money off them for a piece of shit.

Brand new cars come with warranty etc built in therefore salesmen don't like selling them as there is no financial gain in it for them

Hate AC.

Have to admit, although I am not a big fan of Arnold Clark and their trading practices, I bought a 57 plate Merc CLS 3 years ago and have NOT had one single problem wit it. (Just jinxed myself now, haven't I!?"

BUT like everything else you're buying used goods....do your own checks and make sure you've satisfied yourself that all is as it should be

before committing to a sale.

Just my 2p worth!

I had a Company Car in for a service i inherited years ago.I only had it 3 months whilst awaiting a New Car from another Dealer.I told them the "brakes" where dangerous.Next day driving the Car away the "brakes" where no different.

I drove the Car 200 yards to a Garage that repaired the "brakes" as they where worn.

I later shoed the "brake shoes & Pads" and invoiced them.

Too add to thefiasco ..the Mechanic that repaired the "brakes" couldnt get the wheel off due to a broken nut..

Arnold Clark where adamant they fixed the brakes..

It was evident for a £250 service ..They basically kept it storage for a day and washed it.

I've bought 7 cars in 15 years off them, very few issues and always fixed without any problems, but if it's used, I always do a thorough check, and make the purchase on the basis of the work carried out. And trade ins they have beaten any other offers by over a grand every time

Used to avoid them like the plague.... But ended up working for them, the car guys get a hard time, all the time. Now bought about 8 cars from them now over five years or recommended friends to buy and never had problems. They were either new or prereg. Worked for other car groups as well and they're all a much of a muchness. I was lucky doing fleet, would never go back to do retail, a lot of the crap is sales support and service before the vehicles go out so its not always the sales and fault if something goes wrong

My involvement with them was a long, frustrating and frankly boring story. Worth saying though, that at the end of it I had a similar feeling of violation to that experienced when my house was burgled.

My first car was from Arnold Clark 12 years ago. Only when I needed to use the spare wheel did I find it didn't fit, I took it back to the garage and they replaced it, but put the one out of my car in to the same make vehicle. They also cracked the oil sump when they services it. Needless to say, never been back!!

When you deal with the sort of volume they do, it's only natural there will be complaints and horror stories.

There is good and bad service everywhere in all organizations.
