Enjoy your stay there, take as much groceries with you, we found prices so much more expensive in the local shops or they had run out of things.

I was at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig a few summers back. There's no doubt groceries etc are more expensive than you'll find in the central belt supermarkets* but it was put to us that the few extra coppers we spent in local shops/ pubs etc made it that bit easier for native Sgitheanachs (sp) live there all year round.

* it's not so bad since the bridge opened and became free of tolls.

I hope you enjoy the variety of Skye. There are about 4 or 5 different landscapes there. I have been all over the island (and Lewis and Harris also which is worth a visit) and I recommend the West Coast of Skye for the bays (Talisker bay is cool), the road between Uig and Skye which takes you through the mountain range up in the north, and Sligachan for the views of the Cuillins and the sea loch, also a decent place to eat there. There is a co-op in Broadford which is reasonable in prices and Portree has one too. I hope you have a fun time

Lothian area

Yes the Co-op in Broadfoot is about the best.

Plan for a possible 4 seasons in 1 day.

Its a great place for a few days - even just out walking for many miles.

Enjoy.
