I've heard of this abroad where people have communal changing areas and showers for male and female. Got me thinking why are people liberal and open to do that abroad but not in this country ?

I could only assume it stems back to this country being predominantly religious?

True could be , it's not even a sexual thing , but there is more hang ups in this country over nakedness , never heard of this arrangement in uk mainland unless anyone knows differently

Until a few years ago most showers at gyms and football parks were communal (make one's anyway) and I remember going into m&a when I was a wean and the changing area was just one big room.

I think it's in part to do with Victorian era laws and attitude towards sex and sexuality.

For example it was common place to see two men walking arm in arm until the introduction of the anti-homosexuality laws in 1885 which meant you could be prosecuted for being homosexual without it being proven. Prior to that you had to literally be caught in the act. This changed the way men acted around on and other. Prior to the 18th and 19th centuries we were a much more open minded bunch.

But we are working on it as sites like this prove.

At the Faro bike rally.

The showers are a row of wooden pallets with two parallel pipes with shower heads every six feet.

You just strip of and get on with it. People walking past or sitting chatting.

Very liberating.
