I wonder how clapping hands got started as a means of showing appreciation. Like, who decided, "I really like that. In order to show it, I'll just bang my hands together"

On the topic of clapping, why is stroking a dog called clapping the dog?

Any answers? Or any other little things that you've always wondered about?

Aren't jaffa cakes cakes, not biscuits? Cakes get hard and biscuits soften through time, which is how they define what makes a cake and biscuit. Just pondering like!
