Does anyone else have a fear of the dentists?

I went for a check up last week and now i've to get 2 fillings today!!!!

Was thinking about wearing my headphones to drown out the sound....is that allowed?

Terrified of them. I get an injection to put me to sleep when getting anything done. Have been for years . I still tremble in the waiting room though .

Fucking terrified! Trust me, headphones do NOT work. Ask for them to knock you out. Its the only way.

I went and got my rear molar tooth removed last week as I cracked it in half. I'd never had any work done so didn't know what to expect. The first round of injections they gave me didn't fully numb me so they had to do a full round again. Must've been 8-10 injections in total - and you can't really feel any of them going in. Nothing to fear - trust me.

Glenrothes

used to bother me but not nowadays, i think a lot depends on the dentist and if he actually listens to you.

my old one was a small polish man, bloody butcher he was, hated going to see him.

I was terrified of the dentist as my childhood dentist ruined my experience for me by giving me a filling Un-numbed then pulled out two teeth, one either side which I still have bruising for today almost 15 years later. My dentist now is amazing! She checks before any work starts that I'm feeling okay and is patient as anything! I even take my 4yo with me to watch so he's not scared of the dentist. He gets to stand at the side of me and the dentist explains what she's doing. I've got the dentist today due to tooth ache. Bit worried but I'll get over it.

I ALWAYS worry about it and it NEVER hurts. You'd think I'd get over it!

I didn't have a fear of dentists, I had a fear of the cost.

After taking full use of the dental insurance scheme via my work at the time, I now have a decent set of gnashers.

Sure there's a few fillings, 2 crowns and a bridge, but my teeth are basically healthy now.

You should never neglect your dental upkeep.

Absolutely dispise the dentist had to go last week. and took headphones with me and to be honest I found them a big help. could still hear the tools but the audiobook I was listening to was enough to keep my mind occupied
