Grassmarket, plenty pubs to choose from there. And Le petit Paris is a lovely French restaurant if you don't wanna drink on an empty stomach

Depends what you are looking for really, great beer and gin, try the Hanging Bat on Lothian road. Fan of the white Russian then lebowski's on Morrison street. Bannermans or banshee labyrinth if you like heavy metal/rock, down on cowgate. George street area has some nice up market places. Or for something a bit different Panda and sons the cocktail speakeasy on queen street it has a barbershop front
