Well that's a shame people feel that way . Especially as people have fought and died to give you the right to vote . I see it more as a duty , the least we can do . I do understand that the political world is corrupt and it can seem pointless to vote but if everyone had those thoughts would we be living in a free country ?? Not everyone is as fortunate as us and throughout the world there are still folk fighting and dying just to get the right to vote and we toss it away without a second thought . I'm sure at some point over the course of a parliamentary term that you will have some gripes some thoughts and opinions on issues such as war , the NHS , immigration, independence etc etc . Now in my view if you didn't vote then its a bit cheeky to start moaning about what's being done or not done . OK just now it might not affect your life directly but the decisions being made on your behalf could in the future . Could affect you or your family or someone you know . The right to vote is a fundemental civic duty that we should all endeavour to fulfil no matter what our views .

Well, you can't complain, no matter who is in power if you abdicate your right to vote.

Does that mean you won't post on any politics threads for the next 5 years?

perhaps it needs more folk to abstain instead of taking the best of a bad lot. A period of anarchy may be whats required for true politics to emerge.as for fought and died sorry been seen done. With sub standard equipment and old school mentality ive earned the right to abstain if I so desire. And given everyone else that right also. Just because I choose to abstain dosnt mea I dont see the political landscape and have views more that I refuse to show faith in imbiciles

It doesn't matter who you vote for, the government always wins.

I was asked by a tory canvasser if they could count on my vote.

I told them there as much chance of that as me having a 3sum with Ruth Davidson and Kezia Dugdale. (Cue bemused look)

I used to think it was everyone's duty to vote but not so much now. In a way not voting is saying "none of the above" and at the end of the day it doesn't matter who you vote for, you never get what's promised.

But, I've been!
