Nope..he didn't make it up. Nowadays it would be called a Summerhouse but when I was a girl it was the sitootery! Little do my parents know but our first son was conceived there one evening. We were staying the night and didn't want to make a noise so snuck outside.

A Sitootery is a "sit-oot-there" which is a toilet built in the stair of a close which was used before toilets were installed inside houses. I hope this helps. When my grandma lived up a close in Glasgow there was a toilet half way down the close stairs. I hated going there as it was always freezing or so I thought

Which means to have been touched by fairys, and was commonly used to describe people of pale complexion especially redheads.

Every days a schoolday, as the saying goes.
