Are there any songs that immediately make you feel sad as soon as you hear them?

For me it's Iris by the goo goo dolls and winters tale by David Essex.

Not because I don't like them, but they were played at a funeral of someone close and still mak me sad when I here them to this day

Anything by anyone who has been on the X-Factor or the Voice.

Sad that that is what passes for music.

Everything I Own - Bread

Took my son to cinema to see a film and this song was in it - was just a few weeks after my Mum had died and it just said it for me

Can't hear it now without going back to sitting in the dark in the cinema crying

Err. ..thanks Furry

Chasing cars by snow patrol, twas the song my singing group did a cover of, for a girl in our groups funeral when I was 14, it was so difficult but it was her favourite song. Still chokes me up now when I hear it.

"Highland cathedral, which makes me sad as fuck but I love the tune"

Aye, indeed. Think for me because it's every nuggets funeral tune.

Not sad per say, but only two to have made me shed an actual tear are Long December by Counting Crows and Sunshine on Leith by Proclaimers.

A world of my own

Yesterday by The Beatles. Was my dad's favourite song. He used to sing it to me.

More than words by Extreme.. its one of these songs that sums up certain situations far too well

Secret Love Song by Little Mix. Sadly the radio stations seem to play it a lot as well.

There are many others. Mostly attached to memories. I'm such a softie x

One of the most sincere, heartfelt songs ever!

One of lifes synchronicity experiences tonight... out on "girls night" and talking about the Fleetwood Mac concert and what a great night it was... especially a great memory to have of a close friend who passsed very suddenly soon after it... literally chatting about it when the most pertinant song of the night and the source of much "in" jokes plays... sometimed you "Never Break The Chain"

At the end of the song,Stevie was crying and couldn't finish Silver Springs so Lindsey did

such a huge bond between Stevie and Lindsay even if they have "gone there own ways"

For me music in general is a very moving thing, I love music but I can't think of a song that makes me sad. I totally understand songs that have been played at funerals etc making people sad, but when I hear songs from a funeral I've been to I try to think of the good times we had and make it a positive experience. That's just me though

REM - One I Love

Newton Faulkner - Dream Catch Me

They both remind me of absolute heartbreak and someone I fell crazy, head over heals in love with

Lukas Graham - 7 Years reminds me of recent heartache

Shania Twain - Still the One reminds me of my 1st ex bf, we'd been together a long time and got passed so much adversity we thought this song was perfect and summed up our relationship

I think it's amazing though how music can take you back to a time, a place and a memory, some absolutely heartbreaking and some happier! xxx

Bright Eyes

Bright eyes,

burning like fire.

Bright eyes,

how can you close and fail?

How can the light that burned so brightly

Suddenly burn so pale?

Bright eyes.

A few already mentioned can cause a lump in my throat from time to time.

For me it's The Ballad Of Easy rider by Roger McGuinn.....reminds me of scattering my auld mans ashes

The Theme song for The Littlest Hobo can make me feel quite maudlin as well....only sometimes though it usually cheers me up! Awesome tune
