Why are you proud not to be using it. It's only a way to chat to people the same way people chat on here?

I use it and have made some great friends through it. When I'm on my own (which is a lot) I have people to talk to so I don't understand what's so wrong with using Kik or being in a Kik group.

Nothing wrong with it at all. I've met some great people through kik.

I use kik, for me it's much safer than giving out my mobile number as this can be used in some instances to track you down on Facebook.

Exactly. That's all it is. A chat app and in my view not a very good one. A spammers delight which caused me no end of bother until I uninstalled it.

I'm happy to chat here..I find it adequate. I hear those who say kik is a safe way to chat without giving out personal details (which I'm not sure is entirely accurate in fact) but if I REALLY am at the stage of wanting to chat off here I wouldn't have a problem giving out my number as by that time trust would have been gained.

My own opinion about kik groups, which I have formed from various discussions on the forum is that they aren't open to all. Only those "chosen" to participate and individuals can be just as quickly excommunicated. All seems a bit cruel and cliquey really. At least on the forum all can have their say if they stay within the rules.

If kik works for you, I'm happy. It's something however, I'm happy to avoid.

We both have used it for different reasons then.

Of course groups are choosy with who they include. They aren't going to pick people that don't have the same interests or people they don't get on with.

I've never heard the word clique used so much even since school as I do on fab. And I've never understood why a group of friends that get on would be called a clique.

The main draw it seems is anonimity. I just dont get it and to be honest it just seems a little seedy to me. was most folks reasons for joining fab not to meet likeminded folk not hide behind a veil of anonimity.As has been mentioned above if I wanted to talk to someone outside fab I have a phone or happy to meet up.

Only in one kik group and it's filled with great people who half of us have all met up. Before joining the group we new noone on it. I would now consider some of them good friends and the newer ones look forward to meeting up with soon.

The group is all fun and laughter and total random chat

The whole point of the anomity off the group is you dobt know anyone on it. You build up a friendship on it then you can decide to meet of not and then give out more personal contact details .

Personally I love our wee group of what I would call friends definitely not a clique

a phone number wont give access to an account. If he had your phone I suppose he could access it. Its all about your own security measures and what your looking for. I think I find it seedy as its the whole anonomous thing. If im comfy enough to talk to someone theres no need to hide. Thats my take on it anyway.

I worded my last comment wrong, he used my number to find me on Facebook. We all have our own views on these topics and its good that you are comfortable giving out your number, I just prefer not too.

We're kinda new here but we are getting nothing but fakes and spammers on here as much as we do on kik tbh. There's always going to be spammers etc. Kiks pretty good I think for when you have chatted and verified with someone on here but without giving your number out.

I use kik alot more now than i used to. Mainly because i found a group of people who i get on great with. A plus of being in a kik group is a range of people joining in a conversation that you might otherwise never have opportunity to speak to

I agree. The group thing just gets boring really quickly for me. I much prefer having a select few that I really get on with.
