Not like me to post a popcorn thread...but ill wait for the backlash effect on this one..

So sexual labels.. Does your upbringing and or religion dictate how you perceive sexual labels?

Could be parents, schooling, where you were brought up, sunday worship, cath, prod whatever....

Does you own personal attitude to sexual labels, stem from those influences that are around you past or present.

Does your conception of sexual labels hamper your ability to be free spirited in love.

I know myself and miss kink dont care for labels and would happliy have a no prefence if the option was available Maybe there should be...

I think people on fab are better people than most outside of it, we're all or at least most of us are accepting of other people and their sexualitys.

Where as outside of fab it may be 2016 but alot of people still act as if it's the 1950's there are still alot of homophobes & people who think that being on a site like fab makes you a pervert of some kind "which may be true but not as bad as what they think" hard to put it into words really.

I don't think it has anything to do with how your brought up or the people you grow up around I think everyone is different and has different views on it, some people are old fashioned others like me just simply don't care & think life is too short people should be aloud to do whatever & whoever they like as long as it's legal and consensual.

As for religion that shite has to be stopped anyway, the Vatican have had more turns than a NASCAR race. They say dinosaurs didn't exist but now they admit they did. God used to be vengeful and non forgiving now he's all sweet and cuddily being gay or lesbian was evil and you would burn in eternal fire for it but now it's OK and can even get married

We need to just ban religion from the world, it's just a big money making scam anyway but that's a discussion for another topic.

I think the comment about conception of sexual habits holding you back is a very accurate one. Whether people want to admit it or not, there are limits placed on there activities based on their own preconceptions and also their feelings about how they will be perceived by others. This goes for the two of us as much as anyone else.

I think we all have social and environmental influences, some of these are from the factors you say such as parents, schooling, religion etc. However I think an enquiring mind, the ability to question and look at things objectively ergo to change your outlook and opinion on any issue is within the person themselves. You have two ears and one mouth for a reason you should listen twice as much as you talk

I do think we are all conditioned in some way. Which is why the majority stero typically, call bodies straight, bi, gay.. Those who choose remove the labels usual have questioned convention, perhaps, simplifying it to a more sexual form rather than niche.

Regard the comments regarding religion. It has its place in the world. Everybody needs to believe in something or have faith in something. Humans are primarily a social species and have a sheep herding mentality.

I think the black sheep change perceptions and push the boundaries of the human race. In all forms including sexuality.

Labels are used to describe. If we didn't use them how would we tell people what our preference is. I am bi, how could I tell someone what I am without saying that or do people that don't like labels want everyone to be the same?

I'm lucky that religion wasn't thrust upon me when I was young, I was left to make me own mind up on the subject.

My ex wife was brought up in a very strict Irish catholic family. It was to be fair a very loving environment but extremely repressive sexually and additionally rather racist.

One funny story from her childhood was that her mum used to sellotape shut the womens underwear pages in the clothes catalogue. lol

As an adult however she discovered the wild world of sex and threw herself into it with a passion.

Your bi. So you like intimacy with both parts of the species. Your enlightened and free spirited sexually.

Instead of describing yourself as bi. You are in effect just a normal fully sexual person willing to explore with anyone who takes your fancy.

Bi as a label is just like having a shop name above you. Because the rest of the world needs a name for it...

You know what, It's just so much easier saying that than having to roll out a big long speel about being free spirited and enlightened sexually, what you have just typed can easily be shortened to "I'm bi"

I walk around with lots of labels not just sexual ones and they are actually all used so people know what and who I am. I don't have a problem with that at all. Everyone and everything is labelled in this world so we know what it is and what it does

You can be enlightened and free spirited.........and straight to many folk take what you want to call labels as slanderous. Is calling someone enlightened not just a label that you understand and are happier with than bi ?

Social conditioning affects us all - whether it's work choices,living standards, sexual attitudes, political affiliation, etc

It's say it's a generational with workplace, friends and family being big drivers.

Bei g the wrong side of 40 abd approaching 50 myself, in very general terms the older generation (to me) are likely to be an vanill through and through - some to the point of frigidity. Sex is just fie making babies. And contact mags were for the dirty raincoat brigade.

My generation I think are the experimental/dvanturists - kids fledged the nest and we're discovering the freedoms that Internet sires like FAB can bring.

The younger generation brought up on Internet are I think much more internet savvy nd sexual aware that their parents or grandparents ever were. And so extremes like BDSM LGBT et. are much more mainstream.
