Public bathroom urinals, who gets the stagefright?

Was out for lunch today and somehow the conversation landed upon public bathrooms. One of the group was saying he can't pee when other guys are either using the urinals near him or behind him washing their hands. Is this common? We took the piss out of him for it (pun intended) but wonder just how many get this?

I do. Size wise I'm not embarrassed, don't know what causes it but I can be there for ages.

I now just use a cubicle.

I can't pee when others are beside me either. Don't know what causes it.

This must be a woman's thing, very often in guys toilet they just do it, fart noises and all. The worst part is hearing the plop....and the silence that follows

at work you go in, sit down and make groaning noises, then big farts and a huge plop or you drop something in that makes a huge plop, then a big sigh of relief; if nothing else it wakes up the ones in next cubicles having a sleep and disturbs the ones reading news papers
