Hi, need some advice on using a hotel for the first time.

Do you just walk in and ask for a room and is it card only or can you pay by cash.

Any advice welcome. Jim

Ayrshire

Yes you can walk in and get a room there and then. It is cheaper to book in advance though and you can pay by either method

Im a hotel receptionist, t5our better booking before hand firsty usually cheaper and also your not guaranteed there will be rooms available. You can pay cash or card most hotels will ask for a deposit if paying by cash though, and some form of identification is also required.

Correct, I've stayed in dozens of hotels all over Scotland all prepaid for me.

So the question is legitimate as I was under the impression they wanted your card to cover charges you may incur. Jim

Cards are easier, but u can pay cash.. in my hotel u leave a refundable deposit and get it back providing all is well with the room

Hi, I wasn't commenting on you MsDiva it's the other pointless comments that get made.

If you've nothing helpful to say when a question is asked why post a useless comment.

I've noticed this a lot on here that some folk take pleasure in making other folk look stupid.

And thanks to those that gave a positive reply. Jim

OP - just book in advance, pay cash if you want and have fun

Just pick somewhere convenient for both of you

near Glasgow

A very simple solution, OP, find a lady who doesn't have a problem with using her own credit card, and you give her your share in cash.
