"I'm looking at hotels for our visit to CJs, has anyone stayed at the Glasgow Pond? Any good?"

Stayed there a couple of year back.

Rooms were pretty run down .

Food was great but the brassiere is basically beside the bar so was pretty noisey.

Wouldn't recommend that .

I have, been looking all morning. It depends what date we're going, if it's the 2nd or 3rd weekend it's fine, but if it's the 1st weekend it'll be somewhere else.

That's why I want opinions on this place

What we always do when staying in Glasgow is book whatever hotel we will stay in and late the night before check booking.com and we normally find cheap last min hotels and just cancel the first one. Xxxxx

Between the bridges - Forth n Tay

I would have sent a private message but I can't as no pic on my profile. If you look on livingsocial in the escapes section, they have an offer on for the Lorne hotel with breakfast , 3 course dinner and a cocktails for £89 or itison glasow have an offer for Mercure Hotel for £69 ,with breakfast and wine. You would need to check the small print for full details on both offers.

Don't stay in St enochs hotel! It's a hostel that the Hamish Allen centre use for homeless folk!!!!

The pond is a good bit away from the new venue! The holiday in express near the royal concert hall is reasonable!

The Mercure offer looks great, there's only one weekend in feb we can use it though and it'll sell out before he can confirm which weekend. I'll keep an eye out for others though

Appreciate the suggestions but I'm looking for people who have experience of staying in this hotel.

It's a dive... and not very central. I'd pay twice as much for anywhere else before I'd stay there again

Hi we have just stayed in the lorne hotel at new year and it was great nice rooms and the food was great. Only a short taxi ride to cos. But the new premier Inn opposite the hydro and the village hotel which is next door are both excellent and again only a short taxi ride to cos.

I've also stayed at the pond and to be honest I thought it was okay. Staff were friendly, food was good and the rooms comfortable. Downside -it is a bit further out from the city centre, but if your driving it's not a problem. I hope you find somewhere xx

Pond hotel is nowhere near cj's. You'd spend a fortune in a taxi.

Fraser suites are good. They do two bedrooms so you could split the cost.

Cj's is close to G4 postcode if that helps.

Is there's something wrong with sharing with a homeless person?

Glasgow keeps building/ opening more and more hotels yet supply doesn't seem to lead to a drop in prices.

The suites at Glasgow Hilton are awesome, also gives you access to executive bar and lounge on tip floor, quality is second to none in all areas and book in advance u can get for under 200 a night, great value and not some flee ridden shack that you need more than a condom for protection!

Enjoy

" Glasgow keeps building/ opening more and more hotels yet supply doesn't seem to lead to a drop in prices."

And yet according to figures out this week, it's not exactly a booming part of the Scottish economy at the moment.

Not surprisingly, Aberdeen hotels have been badly hit, but neither Glagow or Edinburgh are doing particularly well either. Inverness currently has the most successful hotel sector.

It's not very central hence the reason not many will have used the Pond.

Try city centre hotels. Will save you in taxi fare unless you are driving.
