Gay?

So, after today's exam I was chatting socially to some of the students. There were 4 of them so I asked, out of curiousity, if they thought I was straight or gay since I am so often seen as being gay. 3 out of the 4 said gay.

So...for those who know me, what is it that makes me seem like I'm gay? For the record this is just me asking a genuine question because I'm interested in the answer.

Mr J

Are you allowed to talk to your students about that kind of thing? Isn't there some kind of code of conduct?

I think it's your mannerisms that would make people think that

It was a civil chat among adults, (I'm the second youngest in the group,)

Thanks for the input though. That's what one of them said. The others didn't offer a reason.

I don't know you, but from some of threads and messages you post on here, I'd say you were probably a bit more the oversensitive type.

That may be leading everyone to conclude you are gay?

So I've met you Mr J, and we've spoken on numerous occasions.

I've never thought you were gay....however, you do have a 'vibe' that I can't put into words sometimes. To be honest, I wonder if it's just because sometimes you can be misunderstood or whether it's because you don't really care about how people see you.

Either way, it really makes no odds.

You are who you are.

And I wouldn't want you to change as I think it would detract from your personality if you tried to conform to someone else's view

You were never going to be in the 'butch man' category if that makes sense (can you use butch for men or is it a term for manly women? No idea but you get my point)

But to be honest i always thought it was maybe just a comment or 2 that had been made (either joking or curious) that had been picked up on and you get teased about it a little til its just kinda stuck and become a running joke?

I don't see it mate. Having seen/met you briefly at CJs on Boxing Day -- I wouldn't have thought it. I get what lingerie said above about not being "butch" but then neither am I...

Maybe your too nice, I often get asked if I'm gay becuase I'm too nice. In my life I've only ever been asked out by 4girls but have been asked out by over 20guys, even on fab most of the attention I get is from guys.

That could be true on here. Except I had an ex ask me ifi was gay & the chat today was with 4 random people who only know me from uni, 3 of whom assumed I was gay.

It's just a little confusing for someone who is straight is all.

It's a bit like friends when they all assumed Chandler was gay as he had a 'quality'. It's not true but sometimes a few people may get a feeling about you that they can't explain except by wondering if you're gay
