He done well to keep the cancer a secret.

That's my childhood hero away, three days after his 69th birthday too.

He made some fantastic albums. . . Some not so good too!

Yeah he'll be really missed.

Spent my teenage years, and many more, with his music and indeed his iconic images which will last forever. The clues were all there in his last album. He was a man who knew his time was almost through. His swan song. I'm sad he's gone. But Im so glad he was here....x

Absolute bollocks. I'll give you the 1980s as a low point, but everything from Outside onwards has been superb.

I am a 46 year old man and I have been in tears all day.

In your opinion. He was an iconic influence musically and aesthetically for an awful lot of people and will be sadly missed. Will you leave such a legacy??

.

Between him and Marc Bolan they made me feel normal growing up with dressing differently . So many people will know how his music influence helped through the years .Possibly next to Elvis the biggest loss to music . May he fill heaven with great tunes .

I am not going to shoot anyone down here. There have been a few negative comments but to be honest when you look at how many positive comments there are it really does just show there are some people out there who want to find bad in all.

I am guessing he timed he last album timed near when he thought he would die. He obviously wanted to make sure his family were secure for their future.

How many people respond when you say.... "You Remind Me Of The Babe" lol. We liked the music of the guy, he had a voice you could instantly recognise. The music industry is starting to get bad now with so much music all sounding the same.

How many songs do you hear these days where someone has made a small loop and put it on repeat and you can hear where the bass line should change note but does not and it all just sounds the same. We are losing all the music great WHO WROTE MUSIC. Their music will live on and entertain people. Just a shame that there will be no more of their music.

His music will live on. All our wishes goes out to his family and friends and even though they were not on the best of terms his EX currently in BB.

Another great legend of music leaves us. The music will live on forever.

RIP David. Missed by many

The sooner Cancer is stomped out the better..... Nasty evil disease. I had a scare the once and the scare itself is enough to scare the crap out of you. Lived it with a few friends and lost them. Terrible illness. Sending out respect to all the scientists who are busy working to destroy this illness.

Was I the only one with a tear or three watching the tributes and footages of his concerts and appearances yesterday?

Is there anyone bigger in the UK music industry that we have yet to lose?

I doubt it

The Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud is now free himself!

I was in tears all morning on the sofa, then burst into tears in the supermarket... this hit me hard.
