nice walks in the Glasgow area?

I'm not a Glasgow native so am a bit clueless on this, but was hoping to go for a walk somewhere in the surrounding area. I'm thinking hills and water but nothing too strenuous and mountain-y. Anyone got any hidden gems they like to frequent for a few hours?

NB: not for dogging

it is but I'm very familiar with the area, I was hoping for something a little further afield and new!

Hi, I presume it's daytime you're going so a good bet is loch Lomond / Balmaha. Do you drive? Jim

Glasgow

Walk down to the Clyde and pick a direction to follow, west end or Southside

Personally enjoy going Southside, through the Glasgow green and along towards shawfield, following the river the whole way

Kilpatrick hills, fantastic view over the Clyde and you can make the walk to Drymen and back if feeling energetic.

Dumgoyne which lies behind distillery. Or Queens view. Both located 30 min north of Glasgow.

Glasgow

Dumgoyne just north of Glasgow (the bump st the end of the Campsies). Not too strenuous and there's a good place to eat/ drink when you descend.

It also has a distillery to visit.

On the south side of the city, set in 360 acres of natural parkland, in the heart of Pollok Country Park, you have the award winning building housing a unique collection. Plus Pollok House, an elegant country house, well worth a look, tearoom in the basement. Walks all over the place plus the River White Cart.

Down and around the kelvin as one of the lads above has suggested is good, Youl like it. There's also the canal going from anniesland all the way to Helensburgh, you do pass some rough bits but the majority is lovely, actually a really good route for biking.

Mugdock park is a little out but that's also great too

Look at www.walkhighlands.co.uk there's a section that includes walks in the Glasgow area and all over Scotland if interested.

Pollok Park, southside of Glasgow, entrance best by Shawlands is lovely for a walk.

join the rest for the people in walks to the Burrell Collection or Go to Pollok House Instead and venture a bit further either side to the stables or the watermill and beyond, enough to keep you busy for the whole day
