If the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died because of wounds received in battle Question - If the horse has four legs on the ground. What did the person die from? Answer ..? ![]() ![]() It's a myth about statues of military leaders on horses. It is not true that the number of legs the horse has on the ground represents how that person died. However, if you're still searching for an answer to this myth, then yes indeed as the myth goes: four horsey legs on the ground shows the poor bugger died of something that had nothing to do with war. Although, because it's all a complete myth, then any answer is irrelevant.

Answer ..? ![]() ![]() Wrong. It is an urban myth, a legend. It's a nice idea, I personally like it, but it is not true unfortunately. Ill-informed tour guides, blokes in pubs and the internet perpetuate such misconceptions. Statues and sculptures from all over the world, across the epochs have never followed this rule and only about one third of statues of military riders on horseback coincidentally reflect this so-called hoof-raising/death symbolism nonsense.
