Make a dash round all the supermarkets within a ten-mile radius and buy up every last bottle of water you can afford. Get some tins of Beans 'n' Sausages or Aphabetti Spaghetti, Kit-e-Kat will do in a pinch...

Fuck everyone else, they can die of thirst... Self-preservation man! It's like a dry-run for the apocalypse. Next, get down to your garden shed and fashion yourself some rudimentary weapons out of a hoe, twine and a coal skuttle. Then retreat to your fallout shelter in the cupboard under the stairs, reading Protect and Survive, listening out for announcements from the P.M on the wireless, whilst you sit sipping on a bottle of your tasty Highland Spring.

At least I assume this is the scenario that went through the heads of local people last time there was a slight problem with the water supply and didn't leave any for anybody else...
