What exactly are socials.

Not been yet but I plan to in the new year.

But just wanted to check a few things.

Firstly am I correct in saying there is no play at these?

Secondly to they tend to be on someone's house or are they in hired halls in pubs etc?

It's usually in a pub or hall but seperate from the muggles

It's a strictly NON play event. (There is usually lots of flirting and the odd snog though)

Treat it like a work do and you'll have a blast

What about things like food and entertainment or is it just music and drinks?

Edinburgh was salsa dancing. As it was an 8 start people came fed. Lots of snogs and then onto a sex club or people's houses or hotels if you wanted too.

We had a few nibbles out on the tables in November and some sweeties on Saturday. Definitely non playing. It looks like any other group of folk on a night out. It's non playing and very laid back. Is a good way to meet lots of people. The 2 I have organised were done in such a way that everyone should feel welcome and everyone chatted and mingled throughout the night.

Anywhere folk went after was up to them.

Some of the other socials are more formal. Especially if it's a proper do with food and entertainment. They may also cost to attend.

The biggest thing for me is that it doesn't become a clique. I can hopefully speak for most people who have been to the recent Edinburgh ones and say that no one sat on their own.

Sadly I've been to some in the past where it has been the case. Which for me completely defeats the purpose.

Any I've attended have been drinks nights in a pub or a group have met for dinner.

No fun and frolics at venue however not to say what happens thereafter when people have a swally or two

The way I see socials are like they are 'works nights out' with more flirting.

Nothing happens apart from the occasional snog, lots of chat, dancing. But you can make contacts for future fun whether it be after the event away from the venue, or further down the line. It's a good way to see people as they really are, when their guard is down. Sometimes it's a good thing, and you are pleasantly surprised, sometimes you are let down.
