I hope it doesn't happen for a long time, find the idea scary, as much as we can complain about humans at times, we shouldnt be replaced by robots, even if they are incredibly hot

For those saying it won't happen for a long long time I'm not sure your right when you see the advances in technology in the last twenty years I doubt it is very far away the tech in development that is still secret is so far advanced to what is in the shops that major elements of this technology are probably in development

there are already "lifelike" dolls that have forms of interaction and even facial recognition.my point was "personality" which in my thinking requires free thought that is something we are nowhere near they just respond to a set od circumstances so in essence are nothing more than a milk bottle and some fresh liver

That is kind of the point of the series - the different grades of androids have differing degrees of free will or conciousness and this impacts the relationships the humans develop with them. I think it is quite a thought provoking series although it has borrowed heavily from other films like Bladerunner and I, Robot. The fact that the androids are physically very attractive also causes a lot of jealosy in the relationships - I wonder if swingers would cope better?

watched it at the beggining of the year. It is very thought provoking and the manner and complexity that goes into these high end dolls is amazing. But free thinking is beyond our means. Quantum computers which are millions of times faster than what we have are not even close to a true ai or "personality" The owners can place a "personality" on the doll the programmer can put in differing responsive actions (even blushing) but even the experts on these programmes agree they are nothing more than automatons the owners imagine the personality the same way a child gives barbie or gi joe one. more than sexual gratification I seek a meeting of minds and shared experience that for me is why I could never accept that they have a personality and the reason I cant see it anytime soon (the old guy with a housefull and sits down to dinner with them but hides the new one as his main doll dosnt like it shows how real it is for him)

It is very thought provoking and new technology rushes towards us it's predicted that the Turing test will be passed by 2029 to fool humans into thinking they are interacting with a human and not a computer. Something I sometimes think happens on fab the other way round

lol the turing test has already been passed but it is agreed that this test is not enough to prove ai it is just a computer with enough response to dupe folk to believe its a human being the turing test is not accepted as a means to proving ai
