"I'm glad i bought popcorn last night "

Will you share?

Be with war or against, these men and women lost their lives. Families left devastated, children left without parents. And to the survivors, they came back like empty shells, ghosts of what they once were.

Be it a white or red poppy you buy, for war or against, just remember the ones who never came home. Today doesn't have space for the political rows. Just give the souls 1 day of thought.

You absolutely have the right to choose whether or not you wear a poppy. But what you describe above was a result of the actions of Politicians. The soldiers, were doing their jobs - the one they signed on the dotted line to do. Yes I agree there are incidents, such as Bloody Sunday, for which we should be ashamed as a country. That should not take away from the pride of the job our military personnel have done both past and present.

I didn't send my now ex husband off to fight an illegal war in Iraq in 1991. I sent him off to do his duty. Unlike you he didn't have the luxury of saying no - or voicing his opinion. For all the wrongs between us personally I will always be proud of the man he was the day I said goodbye to him to go and fight in Iraq - 19 years old and ready to defend his country.

So I appreciate your _iews and respect your right to them. But please - at least respect the sacrifice and keep your opinions to yourself just this one day of the year.

Wether the wars are right or wrong that's an individual opinion. Soldiers died fighting for OUR country at the very least we owe then is one day a year to remember the fallen. As was said they didn't have an option to go or not and some never returned.

At the very least if you don't support remembrance day keep quiet about it lots have lost loved ones and and this is the one day they can come together to remember them

What a load of total and utter shite. Anyone who see's fit to boo a minutes silence for those who have fallen in all wars cannot even be described as human.

To try and equate that to a group who show nothing but respect is baffling to say the least.

You seriously need to get a grip of yourself. This is about a helluva lot more than football in case you didnt notice.

People need take a good look at themselves on this site, it just shows you the mentality of some people on here mindless idiots.

Lots of innocent men and women fought and died during the war and current acts of terrorism etc.

Remembrance Sunday has nothing to do with football or religion and never will do.

On the news earlier tonight a young man who was in Afghanistan on his first tour lost both his legs and his sight.

Show some respect and dignity for those who are gone and those who are still here.

Lest We Forget

NO, that's why i commented not wearing a poppy then i received even more abuse via PM, never once did i say i don't respect the heroes who fought and died in WW2 but because i don't wear a poppy im disrespectful?? am i not allowed to respect the heroes without respecting the fact im British??

The 5th post in this thread was you asking if the lights were being switched on.

The 6th post was a reply to you saying it was Remembrance Sunday.

The 7th post was you saying you wouldn't be seen wearing a poppy.

Later in the thread you launch into a diatribe, mentioning the Iraq war, Tony Blair, and Bloody Sunday.

You can wriggle and squirm and protest as much as you like, but a side of you has been laid bare for all to see!

its entirely your right to do as you please. what would be unfair is to try and backtrack from your _iews by pretending to not know what the post was about. The problem with your argument here is you justified not wearing a poppy because of illegal wars and such. Remembrance day is not about ww2 or ww1 or any conflict before or after. its about remembering those who put themselves out there in harms way.its also not about uk forces its to remember people of all coulors creeds sexes or nationalitys. I dont really do remembrance day its everyday for me

I honestly couldntt care less what you think at least i have an opinion and not afraid to voice it. because i don't wear a poppy doesn't mean important being disrespectful, being forced to wear one is against anybody's human rights.

away you go!!! telling me that i knew there was a parade in George square, can't you read i asked if the xmas lights were going on, its you narrow minded people who started giving me abuse for it. sad and pathetic to be honest. important not trying to wriggle my way out of anything. giving someone abuse for asking a question then more abuse for voicing an opinion, good right wing policy you have there.

If you have abusive mails it is best you report them rather than post things you say you didn't mean
