Aberdeen First Time

Hi all, we r driving the loooooong way upto Aberdeen this weekend where we will be staying for a few days. Never been to the city before. Any recommendations ? Good places to eat ? Nice upmarket bars ? anything interesting to do during the day on Saturday ?

Also any nice bi fems or exceptional we single guys feel free to message us, we have a nice suite booked at our hotel and seems a waste with just 2

Food wise, Union Square has an array of restaurants upstairs to cover all tastes. I adore Las Iguanas, there's also Frankie & Bennys, TGIs, Giraffe, Pizza Hut, Carluccios and many more.

One of my favourite places is Ed's Easy Diner in the Bon Accord Centre, if you're a fan of 50s diners

The Cock & Bull is a shirt taxi ride north of Aberdeen. Fantastic food in there. There's also a Brazilian place that does excellent meats and whatnot, can't remember what it's called at the moment but it's in golden square and it's good.

you could always venture along to the Holburn bar at about 8/9 pm and come to the club along with a few of us who will no doubt be there

Flying to Edinburgh and staying on Alloa bet there s feck all there

The Brazilian restaurant on Crown Street is fantastic from the waitresses to the food never had any complaints and really recommend a visit

If you enjoy Italian, take a wee 10 mile run out the Deeside Road to Peterculter, The Borsalino is excellent. You'd be advised to book though.

Not classy as such, but the Ashvale on Gt.Western Rd is the best chippie in the country. Known and renowned far and wide.

Hello 2014curious.I can recommend some places as been here in Aberdeen for thirty yrs.. Moon Fish cafe and Merchant Bisto. Very close to Matks and Spencers and the excellent Prince of Wales bar. Fifteen min walk heading up Union st to the West End you have Dizzys. No 1 The Dutch Mill.. Lovely location too. Many club and pubs. Ma Cameron's is quirky. Oldest bar in Aberdeen. Other things. Well Aberdeen play our bitter lol rivals at Dundee utd. The stasium near to the beach where some great cafes on promenade. Clears the lungs on a Sunday morning. A pub on the harboue front Krakatoa previously the moorings has a Pink Floyd tribute band on Saturday night called Wish you were here. Interesting place with huge selection of draught beers like Six degrees North pub and Brewdog. If you had time I would recommend rhe village of Stonehaven further down the coaat. The harbour has stunning views and two hotels on it the Ship Inn and Marine hotel. Top notch food most of it local produce. Aberdeen probably be quietusg as last weekend we had early sky football games. World cup rugby. And Halloween. I cant recommend the Aberdeen club as not been. But club reviews on here. Hope you have a good weekend and please drive carefully.

I don't want to sound pedantic, but I don't think the good folk of Stoney would be impressed with the old county town of Kincardineshire being called a village!

My apologies to the good folk of Stoney. But just because Simple Minds. Human League and Bad Manners have played there then its not a city. If its a Metropolis now then fine. Whatever it is, its a brilliant place.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

The silver darling is good down on pocra quay, malmaison is nice too.

Howies in the town is OK, and I quite like the braided fig.

If you are fans of whiskey, take a drive out on the whiskey trail and see some great distilleries.

Stonehaven is great for being by the seaside

Head inland for stunning countryside.

Glenshee isn't that far away and neither is cairn o mount - fantastic view.

If you're into your beer, brewdog is just north of Aberdeen in Ellon

Union Square is Aberdeen's biggest multi-complex, but it's probably much like any other large modern shopping centre anywhere in Britain these days with the same branded shops and restaurants.

As you want to avoid chain food outlets, you could do worse than mosey two minutes up from Union Square to a part of town called The Green. There's an excellent locally-owned bistro (Bistro Verde) and the less formal Cafe 52, which is also great. The Green also has a traditional pub too, The Old King's Highway.

Belmont Street (just up from the Green) offers a variety of lively pubs and bars (traditional and modern) and there is a very professional comedy club every Saturday night in a pub called the Blue Lamp (just a short walk from Belmont Street) which I'd recommend if you fancy a laugh. (Always busy, but tickets available on the door, £10)

The beach front makes for a nice, crisp Sunday morning and there's plenty of quaint wee cafes to choose from for breakfast/lunch. (The Sand Dollar is exceptional)

And finally, just a heads up, but the seagulls up here dive and swoop like Lancaster Bombers. They're also the size of most light aircraft. Eating in public (even opening a sandwich) is not recommended, and although the council appropriate the city's monies and we have a police force, it is very well known up here that it is in fact the seagulls, who control Aberdeen's streets and skies!

Most of the seagulls are more effective than the street wardens. Beware!
