Firstly what exactly is a social?

I am very new to this life style but finding I am getting sucked in to it more and more.

I like the thought of making friends, meeting up for drinks etc then on the odd occasion having sex with them.

Is this asking to much or is tge scottish swinging scene already like this?

Xx

Having attended my first 'social' last Saturday, I can say I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was nice to put faces to names, and it was just like any night out with any group really.

In many respects, Fab socials are well ahead of other traditional dating sites where these things don't exist, as it gives you the opportunity to meet people in a large group, engage with everyone, but also become more familiar with people who might fit your criteria.

Even having a forum like this is advanced of other dating sites.

That sounds exactly what I am looking for. I like sex but... I don't always want sex and not with everyone on the site. But also I'd like to make like minded friends were there is no pressure for sex but if the chemistry is there then so is the option.

I'm not sure how regular these things in Ayrshire are, I can only speak of the ones up here (Aberdeen), but I expect that anyone anywhere who has a good attitude and is socially friendly will meet many friends on here, sexual or social.

It took me a while after I first joined Fab to work out that Fab users are just ordinary members of the public too, it's just that they are a bit more upfront about their sexual needs and wants.

The same people everyone works with, sits on trains with, walks past in the supermarket, etc, and pretty much all of them (that I have met) are really, really nice.

Not much goes on in Ayrshire. Tried to find it but not happening. Maybe we could meet up for a drink haha

"Firstly what exactly is a social? "

Socials fall into two categories really: social events and social meets.

Social events are functions organised by any Fab member, that are held in a regular venue like a hotel ballroom or pub. The usual big ones throughout the year are Christmas, Valentine's, Hallowe'en, etc. Often it's for a Fab persons Birthday, or organised for no other reason than to get d*unk with old Fab friends and meet new ones. (Who needs a better reason than that?) They are great for putting a face to the profile name, finally meeting that person you've chatted to for months, or meeting the loony who posts nonsense updates or in the Forum. They are always relaxed, fun and nervous newcomers are always made to feel welcome. I've had some really good nights at Fab socials.

Social meets on the other hand are similar to a date, when you will arrange to go for coffee or a drink with a Fab person that you've been chatting with. This is usually to see if there is a physical attraction there in the flesh, to see how you get on, or to see if that person is a wood-chipper owning psychopath. If you do go for coffee and they order a caffeine-free cappuccino with soy milk, then run like hell, they probably have a rusty white transit van, cable-ties and chloroform in the glove-box... and a wood-chipper.

Then it's social events I'm thinking of. Thank you everyone that's replied, it's given me a very good idea xx

The problem for me is I don't like large groups, the less people in a group the more of me I show... to the point that people have met me twice in two different situations and except for my face would s swear I was shy the first time and a total extravert the second

Yay! All hail the forum loonies! I have been known to post nonsense myself, but usually in rhyming verse.

Socials are a good way to meet like minded people and have a drink and a chat. They are always fun but obviously, no shenanigans

1-1 social meets are just that, a chance to catch up with old friends or meet new ones.

If you then decide to get frisky that's great too.

But they aren't for everyone as we are all different but I do enjoy the social side just as much as the naughty side

Exactly. Been known to meet folks on here for lunch or coffee etc and a wee blether just to catch up with them. Some of us have been here a long time and have built up vanilla friendships. That said when the coffee gets d*unk and rather than part company for a few weeks someone suggests alcoholic drinks and before you know it that innocent cuppa ends up in a bedroom somewhere

I'm all for hot chocolate and cakes. Far less about having sex . I'm not really looking for that. It's about meeting new people and having a chat and sharing a few giggles for me if I meet someone.

I'd rather meet for a coffee or some food just to make a bit of a connection beforehand. I find unconnected sex a bit like celery -a bit bland and salty tasting.

I like to get a wee idea what the lady likes beforehand and I will accomodate, This can be done via phone or skype tho as well

There was nothing going on in dundee bar the occasional Saturday lunch, so I started organising drinks nights. They're well attended and let people meet others in the area, and they're a good laugh.

I also do coffee meets with potential playmates, to see how we all get on

Our ideal too. Not necessarily formal social events which take a fair bit of organisation. Perhaps more impromptu, informal get togethers at any nominated pub/bar where it would be great to just chat and get to know like-minded folk.

Meeting socially, having fun with friends and enjoying each other is what swingers do.

Fun, friendship and frolics.

We love the social side of fab - has resulted in some very close friendships.

It is a good way to meet people and a relaxed environment.

There are a few posted on the forums including the Xmas Social in December being organised by Fun Be Happy

Am delighted to hear that Mr & Mrs KK are organising another Stirling Night
