Lunar Eclipse Monday 28th September at 4 degrees Libra/Aries.

Visible in Glasgow.

Begins: Mon, 28 Sep 2015, 01:11

Maximum: Mon, 28 Sep 2015, 03:47

Ends: Mon, 28 Sep 2015, 06:22

This is a rare lunar eclipse and is a confluence of 3 things:

1. Its a full Moon.

2. Its a Supermoon which means the Moon is especially close to the earth.

3. Third its a Lunar Eclipse which means the Moon is located on the far side of the earth from the Sun placing it in the earth's 'shadow' or umbra. Hence the term 'Blood Moon'. First one since 1982 apparently and no repeat until 2033.

The skies are to be clear, what a night to be out and Howl with a fellow fabber

"Man that's odd not as odd as a solar eclipse. "

It did go read and is only peaking now 4:00 (I've been lurking ootside lol) but alas clouding up now. I've got some nice shots of it starting but too dark to get any red ones at the mo. I'll go back out after a cuppa and I heat up!!

"Stayed up til it was half moon the fecked off to bed lol "

Yes because the eclipse happened as the Moon started to set there was hazy cloud around that meant at the peak of totality it was obscured and taking pictures of it was impossible as there was just not enough light (not with my camera anyway). I did get some good ones of it starting and finishing. A bit disappointing as there was a fantastic one in 2003. Still worth seeing though and the next total one visible here (though not a supermoon) is in 2017. And that my dear fabbers is your eclipse news lol
