Christmas Cards......

Jump to newest

When filling out your Christmas cards, take one card and send it to this address: Headley Court Military Hospital, Headley Court, Headley, Epsom, Surrey, KT18 6JN. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these special people who have sacrificed so much for us would get. Please copy and post on your wall and KEEP the address Just Address it to "A Hero

I'm sorry if admin doesn't agree with this but at least I tried

Simply because this is a thread being bumped, it makes no difference whether is Erskine or Headley a card to some of these guys can make their day whether their Para's, RRS or Booties.

Bumped was the wrong word to use, this idea is being mentioned on other sites but it was ms38hh that thought it would be a good idea to bring it onsite.

"Bumped was the wrong word to use, this idea is being mentioned on other sites but it was ms38hh that thought it would be a good idea to bring it onsite."
the only reason i posted was because it was only scottish posters on this thread to date and we are massive fundraisers for erskine although no contacts with the forces whatsoever.

hi there salt and sugar,

I think the reason that headly is mentioned more and more is the fact that its in the news more than erskine house.

Headly is basically where all injured service personnel go after suffering a life changing or indeed a potentially fatal wound whilst serving abroad.

This in no way takes away from Erskine and the truly remarkable work they do for the servicemen and women.

Its really good though that you guys play a big part with fund raising for Erskine, i for one would like to thank you for that as i know many current and ex-servicemen and women who could potentially call upon the services of erskine.

My bumping me gums isn't really enough, but I can speak freely, as the grandson of a survivor from WW1, who was one of only 25 left out of his whole battallion(1000 men) really boys some of them- 16 or 17, my grandad fought at the Somme, Gallipoli, Ypres, Passchendaele, so I have first hand knowledge of how War can damage somebody, mentally as well as physically. So thank god for Headley Court and Erskine, both worthy of our respect in equal measure

Thank You Mr K this is the main reason that I put this on here. It wasn't ment to take away from anything that Erskine has done or will do in the future but feel free to post it there I just thought that it would be a nice idear for the hero's that keep us safe every day of our lives. Thank you Mr K for explaining so well

I am not saying that Headley Court is not doing a fantastic job, short term, for servicemen and women. But Erskine caters for these people long term. Erskine is not just for "Old" war veterans. There have been many badly injured soldiers from Afghanistan who have went through rehabilitation at Erskine recently. They have a special unit called the Ark which is specifically there to deal with the young men and women coming back injured from recent war conflicts. Erskine is not government funded in any way. They rely solely on fundraising and donations to keep Erskine open and they offer an extremely high standard of care. The permanent residents range from 27 years old up to 104, with men and women of all ages passing through their rehabilitation system on a regular basis. The reason you do not see many tv adverts for Erskine is because they have to pay for them from their budget and their money is much better spent on the care service they offer. They have many facilities throughout Scotland and there are many needy people in Erskine's care who would appreciate a xmas card and the fact that someone has thought about them, after what they have done for the country, either recently or in the past. They are all heroes of war after all.

As you will see from the post from above yours I have said feel free to post to Erskine I think most people will be aware of what they do. Right at this point I wish I hadn't even posted this up I am going to leave this for one more day and then ask for this thread to be deleted. I really didn't put this up for a barrage of posts telling me who should get cards and who shouldn't I will leave it up to you to say what you want but as of tomorrow this will be gone so it is up to you now

Doesn't really matter, whether any of the regiments, are english, scottish, irish, or welsh every single one of those lads and lasses, is and should remain very important to us all, Miss38, well done to you for being such a thoughtful person, all army, navy personnel being looked after is very important, whether that charity be, scottish-based, or based in england they are both equally important as i have already said. So thank Miss38, for sparing a thought, and spurring others on to do the same for our amazingly brave lads and lasses, in conflicts past & present.

i think the main reason for it being headley court is that it is the hq for the british army rehabilitation units erskine and many others all come under headley court i myself spent 18 weeks there i am sure that headley court would spread any cards recieved around the various units and establishments

lets all remember it is christmas and the season of goodwill and that all our care workers whether headly court or the royal infirmary are doing a great job and not much applause for it as always just my opinion

Although... you'll need to be quick, Headley Court shuts for Christmas... you may well be better sending them to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham.
