I would probably have to go with simple minds but a number of bands I have seen over the years run them close goodbye mrmckenzie hipsway but closest deacon blue

Hands down its Primal Scream. Followed by Simple Minds and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

But there are f£@kin' dozens of brilliant bands out there that don't get the breaks. They write and perform some of the best music that you'll hear but you do t hear it because they're not famous or had the breaks.

Spot on. There was a local band to me about twenty years ago called baby chaos who were brilliant. They were signed but didn't make it too big. Think they're trying a comeback now though.

To many to name but my first taste of Scottish bands when I lived in England and still in my top 3 is bay city rollers...my favourite Scottish band at min has to be red hot chili pipers..followed by runrig
