Even though I got an A in English at school many years ago, and I'm often wondering this, why do we use exclamation marks(!!!)?

Is it to show humour, sarcasm or somethin else entirely in a non grammar way?

So calling on friendly fabbers to enlighten my curious nature!!!!

Nowadays we use a lot of written word in our social media communication......

I feel they (!!!.......) help to give emphasis to aid the reader in our thoughts!

Sometimes, however..... it's fun to wind up the grammar Nazi's with deliberate errors'

Just an adult form of emoticon for me.

Makes sense in my head when I type.....Hmmm no-one really wants to be in my head.
