After Sex Come Down

There's been a few threads on this in the lounge recently. The day after a really intense session you can sometimes feel a bit down or grumpy. Predominantly it was women who posted. I just wonder if men experience this at all?

In BDSM I believe it's known as "the drop"?

Yes it is however I don't think it's solely those who practice BDSM who experience it

I wonder if it could be the NSA aspect of sex that impacts women more??

I always had a thing I coined "cummers remorse" its what alcoholics call a moment of clarity. A moment when you think to yourself "why do i have a candle in my butt"

I don't find it solely with my BDSM play. It's endorphins and adrenaline come down. I get it from sex, roleplay etc. The high of playing and the rush and euphoria to then ending play. Afterward I get the drop. It can be tiredness, feeling sad or whingy, irritable. It's like a come down and then withdrawal. There are a few threads of people discussing it.

I have experienced it before but I've often thought it was related to my lack of libido after sex. Usually after sex it takes a couple of days before I even think about sex, which in itself puts me in a downer. That said I had a meeting today with a very special girl I've been seeing for a year; in fact this was a bit of an anniversary celebration. It was the best yet with her and I'm still on a high thinking about it 5 hours later. See how I feel tomorrow; although I will be on a plane to the sun, so that might help!

Its from a hormonal change in both men and women after orgasm, before cumming oxytocin and dopamine hormones are high and prolactin is low (prolactin turns you off) after cumming these hormones are reversed.

After child birth woman's prolactin levels are high and also during breast feeding cause the focus is nourishing your young and not reproducing again.

Wow, such a serious reply :p lol. But that answers your question OP Google the hormones or your question and you'll see.

I understand the chemical release. It's very powerful.. I just wondered if perhaps the effects of that manifest in men differently. Or are they just better at dealing with it?

Much as with bdsm, is this not all about the aftercare you give once a session is finished. Surely you would wish to minimise emotional turmoil after such a high.

I'm aware that as in a swinging context that might not be so easy. But as an individual, can you minimise it by eating the right foods, reliving the moments in a relaxed calm state etc etc.

Much as a athlete warms down after a race, as an emotionally charged sexual encounter, you have to look after yourself after the orgasms..

Pink, it happens to men too but personally its only after an intense session of a few hours or so where its constant contact. A quickie leaves no feelings but an intense session leaves you thinking & wanting more. Great topic lass xx

the prolactin kicks into men in the same way as it does for a woman. big part of why ppl roll over and go to sleep cause the release of the hormone kills the sex drive... thats why they talk about non ejaculation or no climax in the sexual side to tantra as it helps to build the sexual intensity without it dropping and you surf the wave of the point of no return lol
