Black screen of death

I tilted the screen down and half shut my lappy, now the screen is black and it won't boot up. Tried removing the battery and power lead, holding the power button down for 30 secs to a minute yet still nothing.

Also tried holding power butting and repeatedly tapping f buttons.......zilch.

I know there is power getting through but nothing is happening, it sounds like it normally sounds when it's up and running.

Any advice would be gratefully received, either that or I'm doomed to using the iPad and not accessing chat.

I'd have to leave it running for hours as I only replaced the battery a week ago!

so it is powering up?

if its powered on you can try and plug a monitor into it and see if it shows the screen there. if it does then your screen is fooked.

if it dosent show on the monitor and ur sure its powered on then its maybe the graphics which will prob be built in, harder to fix and prob more expensive.

ive had a similar problem with my laptop, sometimes the screen goes black or starts going crazy lol i just have to reposition it and try to keep it still, its totally screwed but i barely use it now anyways

moving the screen around might help?

could be that the connection is broken or moved out of place?

hope you get it sorted out!

it could be a few things, or its in sleep mode (laptop works thro tv, but screen wont) we had problem with other lappy not turning screen on, try pressing fn key and sleep key f1 i think if computer is on it makes it sleep and pressing again makes it wake up, that seemed to work for us, failing that give us a shout if you want and i take a look at it...

Dj, I had a look at it on Sunday for her... didnt have chance to see if it works wi an external monitor as I managed to get another broken PC of hers workinh instead...So gave up on the dell.

Like people have said though, as it all seems to boot up (lights, fans, dvd noise) it is connected with the screen.

So, I reckon either the screen itself, the switch within the hinge that switches screen off as you close it or the graphics card.

S.
