I've noticed recently that there are a hell of a lot of profiles- male & female - which say "I'm a whatever year old man/woman & I'm looking to meet men/women/couples". Nothing else is said.

To me this seems a bit suspicious & after sending a message to one I then saw that they had hidden their profile.

Anyone else come across this?

its an auto generated text...doesnt mean they are fake..maybe just lazy lol

Yep.

It's auto completed when people sign up using the mobile site and don't fill anything in
