Why are there always so many socials/drinks nights in Glasgow and never any in Edinburgh? I would love to be able to go to the Glasgow ones every other week or however frequent they are but can't make it.

I've tried in the past to get people involved and I know others have too but people either never show up or make excuses and leave.

So what is it about Edinburgh? Are we all the shy boring types or are there actually fellow party animals out there

Build it and they will come......

Or not in our case. Lol.

We would both come, even if Bo's away I'd come along as it's easier to get home frm Edinburgh.

I've noticed the lack of Edinburgh socials too, so just come to one of the Glasgow socials. Lots of people come from miles around for them. Get yourself a little hotel room for the night, no need to pillage the mini-bar, just bring a bottle in your handbag!

If I could get to the Glasgow ones I would but that's what I'm getting at. I'd rather have a night out here and go back to my own place, I prefer to waste money on drinks then a hotel room lol.

Yep, you have your priorities in the right order! I guess organising socials in Edinburgh will be something that will build, with the right venue and good people and drinks flowing.

We organised one recently. Had people from Glasgow, bathgate, Fife - not one from Edinburgh. 40+ asked for info few days before and on the day. Attendance wasn't even double figures - and it was free.

It's like gigs, as I've said before, people flock from Edinbugh to glasgow for gigs. Put the same band on in edinburgh and no one goes, then complains about the lack of gigs. Been like that since the early 90s.

Cannae win. Good luck to anyone going for it though.

Edinburgh

I've organised a few socials in Edinburgh. Plenty interest. Plenty mail saying they're coming. Very few turn up - most who didn't turn up didn't call off either.

However, I remain undaunted and will try again on my return from hols. Keep a look out. Usually Friday afternoon start.

Smudge

Xx

Aye I know you've done them, was just testing the water and seeing who'd be up for drinks but seems no one is haha. Maybe it's just me

edinburgh

We have been to a few in Edinburgh over the years ,there is a bit problem getting locals to turn up ,that said it would be worth the effort ,but more than likely a smaller scaley though but would give a hard core through time, perhaps start competing with Glasgow lol.

We would come work permitting, that said we did miss the last one our first time as a no show ,once again sorry about that .

A few of the training sessions over organised in Edinburgh and Glasgow, always lower numbers at Edinburgh, folk who don't go into the city centre much have this idea, you can't get parked, and when you do its expensive, I ended up moving courses to livi or bathgate and numbers went up.

Oh I know first one I was part of we took money and half never showed then you had people wanting to just pay when they came which wasn't a good idea. We shall see how it goes and what I can come up with, it would more than likely just be a drinks night at first so anyone can come and no payment needed. I'm just thinking for people in Edinburgh or closer to it then Glasgow so it might be easier and cheaper. Good to see a few people that may be interested though, fingers crossed
