I'm looking for a new, good home quality socket set that will do most jobs on a car. Do any of you fab types work in a garage or similar and have any recomendations?

I was thinking Halfords. I just can't justify Snap on, as much as I'd like to. Halfords stuff comes with a life time guarantee so think I'll give them a go. They have a sale on too

I'll be honest if I wasn't relying on my tools for my pay check I wouldn't buy snap on as there over priced imo but they a're extremely good

Glasgow

Halfords usually have all their socket sets at half price. I've got a couple of sets and they do the job.

Ayr

There is a nice set in lidl or aldi got everything you'll need at about £40. It's the work zone 95 piece wrench and socket set. It is only metric sizes but unless you have a yank import or old classic british car that should not be an issue. It's got everything a hobbyist will need including screw driver bits decent set of ball end allen keys and spanners. A decent low cost starting point.

Halfords Professional would be perfect for you. Pretty sure at least some of the range has a no quibble lifetime warranty also.
